Had an accident and fine free history. The police made their judgement solely on his looks-he certainly looked like he hadn't got two bob to rub together.

Well, I've the got the look right - all I need now is the money! :(

Apparently looking on the bright side of life is bad for your health!

Looking on bright side of life may kill you faster

Thats a bit of a downer!

It's debatable at best (then again, what study is not). Maybe the article doesn't disclose the entire article, but it simply was concluding that people who appeared to set a high expectation didn't really get to it (or maybe aren't as satisfied), whereas those who set a very low one were very satisfied because they had achieved it (or exceeded it).

I think it basically comes down to when you want to enjoy life, do so with a smile, but when you need to take care of business (e.g. your income, well-being, family etc.), be serious about it. I think we all knew that.

Naturally there will be exceptions in the group; a study typically works on the statistical majority.

You make the kid pay for it. I like the idea of the German system where getting a licence is so expensive in training that most wait until their early 20s.
People should be taught to drive rather than as currently happens which is they are taught to pass their licence :!:

+1
All driving instruction should be done by a driving instructor, and only a driving instructor, not the parents passing on their bad habits.
An interesting one. I know someone who taught his daughter the basics of driving before sending her to a driving school. The message came back that he had been giving her bad information. The person in question was a very highly rated and highly thought of airforce flying instructor :!:

Downwind checks are best not performed on the Princess Highway!

Any one we know ? :o And I have met (with JohnK) the daughter of an airforce flying instructor

Awesome timing by me. Just went into the heat to turn off the hose and there was one of our RAAF KC-30As flying over on approach to ADL. According to flight radar it must have done a touch and go or just over flown ADL because it turned towards the north over the water.

I agree with the moral of the story though, never judge a book by its cover.
So true. I could not be more wrong at OOL on Friday with my assessment of young(ish), scrawny lass with tattoos all over the back of her legs and her shouldet trying to jump the priority queue as she was 15 minutes late checking in for the MEL flight.

She was a Velocity Platinum. Which is more than i could achieve.

No new job for me :-| The chosen candidate had more experience (I've only been in my role for 1 year), but they've asked me to apply for an upcoming position. Lucky I got my contract sorted at my current workplace!

Bugger. Onwards to the next opportunity (and it's good that you have that new contract sorted at your current place)

There's something majestic about snow in the UK.. especially when it's mid March! Will summer happen this year?

No snow here :D (although the condensation on my window is pretty impressive ... )
Supposedly some snow where I am tomorrow morning, when it's -9 apparent!

Watching ACA they just showed footage from someone filming an idiot on a Melbourne train, riding the train on the outside.

The show off was derided by most of the carriage, but no one pulled him in or had him reported.

Now if that fool happened to have lost his life, then I dare anyone to justify why he should've not deserved to die when he was - in clear mind - putting his own life at risk.
