I believe thats called the Home Team Advantage. In this day and age where test match cricket has become quite sterile and clinical, I'm all for anything that adds a bit of sport to it (and no Baseba...I mean T20 is not the answer)

Home Team advantage didn't work for the Aussies when they played Seth Africa recently. ;)

That just goes to prove Mal's point "Australia just has a cough cricket team... sorry."..

I think what we're seeing in Aastralian cricket now, is the legacy of hanging onto the older players 5yrs ago rather than bringing in new blood.

Which I agreed with a few pages back. ;)

I thought ASADA was cracking down on bringing in new blood. Or bringing in parts of horses anyway... :p

Well I wouldn't refer to the cricket team as British given they don't allow the Scots or Northern Irish to play...

I was implying it was TonyHancock that had forgotten ;)

So really just Wales and England? I get the Northern Irish but is it that the Scots don't want to play or aren't allowed to?

It's not a British cricket team but the English cricket team, and seeing as the Scots aren't English, they can't be on the team ;)

But the Welsh are considered English. And from that link the Scots were a few years ago too.

The Welsh were annexed, the Scots weren't?

Something like that.

Thankfully not ALL my history lessons come from Trainspotting:

Tommy: Doesn't it make you proud to be Scottish?
Mark "Rent-boy" Renton: It's ****E being Scottish! We're the lowest of the low. The scum of the ****ing Earth! The most wretched, miserable, servile, pathetic trash that was ever shat into civilization. Some hate the English. I don't. They're just wankers. We, on the other hand, are COLONIZED by wankers. Can't even find a decent culture to be colonized BY. We're ruled by effete assholes. It's a ****E state of affairs to be in, Tommy, and ALL the fresh air in the world won't make any ****ing difference!

Yes. It's MCC. But if Welsh are allowed in then it isn't strictly English, is it. Especially after Wales beat England on the weekend Rugby match according to my Welsh co worker.
