Packing up someone else's house is exhausting work, especially when they've kept evey single thing they've ever bought.

Very happy I didn't open that Cyprus bank account:shock:

Anything Euro looks very dodgy at the moment.......the mattresses throughout the zone but be getting very stuffed.

There's a Cyprus hotel on PC pointsbreaks. Risky to enter the country... potential riots, and you never know when or if they'll implement a new tourist tax or other measures.

Yeah it is. Been there seen that.

I've done it before, but this is made harder by the fact we can't get rid of things, as the owner has moved into care. Just boxing and storing mostly. Found food that expired in the early 90s

Wow. Antique food. There's a series in the uk called extreme cleaners (or something like that) ... shows some very interesting house cleans.

Landlords of our business premises used to have an account with the "bad" Cyprus Bank account until about 12 months ago. Bet they're lucky they got out now.

I'll bet they're glad they got out then and they can consider themselves lucky they did.

With these situations I wonder why bank executives who caused this aren't in prison with their assets seized? Will the get off scot free and be able to have others pay their losses? Surely this is a case of a private business going broke, so why shouldn't they just go broke?

Yes, they are pretty clued and knew that when Greece went belly up then others would follow.

But, it's only called the bad Bank because the Government is putting all the debt into it - not because the Bankers did anything wrong. Accounts that have less than $100,000 are being transferred into the "good" bank.

I'm betting there are a lot of angry Ruskies right now.

My ILs have been clearing up a bit since my great-aunt-in-law died two years ago, and they had to do the bulk of the clean up at her house. I took some unopened sheet packs to a donation station. They had Coles New World price stickers on them, and the cost was something incredible for a single sheet (even under a dollar maybe!).

Nothing to do with frequent flyers but I've been laughing at this photo all day.

Like everything in life you get what you pay for. :)

I am not sure which Op up thread to apply this to but last night at AFF drinks in BNE I only ordered a 300g steak and got a 500G steak instead.

Mum and dad have a little bit of money left in Greece.

They wanted to bring it back 4 years ago when the exchange rate was 1AUD=0.6 Euro but I told them to wait until the exchange rate improved. :( Anyway mum is bringing it back with her in July assuming the world economy does not go belly up before then.

And by the way I do not understand all this global financial crisis. The whole world is in trouble yet a few people are still able to get away with megabucks in salaries and bonuses.
