Congratulations Katie on spelling Taittinger correctly. I'm being finicky/pedantic I know, but so many here don't. :)

I even pronounce it the French way some times (tay-tin-jay rather than tatt-in-jer), just like the lovely ladies at the cellars in Reims taught us to pronounce it. Before thoroughly spoiling us with tastings! No Comtes de Champagne, but we walked out of there with 5 free bottles of Taittinger! Win. :D

The correct term is "winning" ;)

So it's not JohnK dressed in a dog costume? :D

Why did this image now pop into my head?

Starting to get questions from family and friends ...

"So, where are you going next?"

The answer for work travel is not new. I have ~1 day of annual leave (won't mention the 35 or so days of long service that I don't think my US boss knows about) after Thailand after Christmas and Singapore last week.

So ... Where to next??? Am thinking back to Europe perhaps; 2011 was escorting ILs through places we'd already been. 2008 was last discovery trip, when Little Miss was 1.5yrs. She is now 6.5yrs.

Althgh after watching Anthony Bourdain's new show, Myanmar could be a go-er. But no 10+hr train trips. The two ladies of the family have motion sickness issues!!!

Where would you go???

That is soooo on topic, I think it needs it's own thread!

For the record I am thinking of going to a Grand Prix (I know! Again!)

Ummm ... no car stuff for us. Mr Katie has a 96 Mustang (6 cylinder) that we imported from the US and converted, but we aren't into cars. He's just promised he's already had his middle age sports car thing early. :p
I don't think he's even driven the car since Jan 2011 when it was one of the first things we evacuated from our old house. The car was filled with photos and photo albums and taken to the ILs.

Maybe not totally OT ...

Has anyone else been boarding a flight at an international location and had their spouse/partner/+1/random travel companion comment "I think that's my ex who I dated before you up there 10ppl before us on the airbridge???

<Didn't see her in the lounge Booya!!!>

Antarctica is top of my wish list, but I think it needs to be planned well ahead (and lots of saving up involved ), so it won't be next!

Oh how I hate dealing with stupid people. When I left Canberra I asked that my final power bill be sent to the PO Box where the bills had been sent for the previous eight years. All of my mail was duly forwarded but no power bill.

So I recently rang up and asked for the bill so I could pay it and finalise the account. I was told the amount and paid it over the phone. I then asked why they hadn't sent the final bill to me. The response, "we sent it to your final address".

Huh? Why? Why didn't you send it to my PO Box? "Um, um, um don't know." Well if you had I would've paid it when I received it. Ok then send it to me via email. She sent the wrong bill, i.e. the second last bill with my PO Box on it. So a return email asking for the final bill, it duly arrived and had the actual street address on it.

And if this had all gone pear shaped it would've been my fault because ACTEW AGL stuffed up.

Where would you go???

A mixture of Myanmar (we haven't visited) and Laos & Cambodia (which we have visited), great culture experience and wonderful hotels that provide the finest of luxury.

In any case it would be a good idea to knock a few of these over whilst you're in the region.

Don't you have a mail redirection where you previously lived. Presumably your PO Box. In which case you would have received it.

Downfall of being self employed. No long service leave. I'd be into my second round by now.

I never had any mail go to my previous home address, everything went to the PO Box which was redirected.

I did not have a redirection from my former home address.

Where would you go???

I can tell you where I AM going this year:

1. May - Ecuador and the Galapagos - nearly 4 weeks. JASA for most flights.
2. August - Kenya for an aerial safari to four game parks and then Rwanda to trek to the gorillas - just over two weeks. JASA PER-JNB-PER.
3. September-October - DONE4: Italy, France, London, Hungary, US, a couple of Caribbean islands and home ORD xHKG - 7 weeks.
4. November-December - Patagonia and Antarctica - nearly 4 weeks. Trying PE for the first time SYD-SCL-SYD but maybe the UPG request will kill that .

Damn - can't squeeze any more in .
