Great cubby/playhouse Shano - the kid'll love it. Great work. I'm loving my Milwaukees but they cost a lot.

Took off from Sydney around 11.30pm one night - felt like such a rebel. Thai Air - around 10 years ago. Phoned dad (retired ATC) from the airport thinking I'd be a day late... He reckoned it happened a bit.

NAPLAN.....we have both of our kids undertaking the task....year 7 & year 5.

When I first heard about the assessment program - I was pretty positive about it however, over the years it appears that this initiative is consuming the QLD education system.

It's all NAPLAN, NAPLAN, NAPLAN....term 2 seems to be pretty much dedicated to passing NAPLAN:confused: The coaching is massive, the homework has morphed from a teacher/class set of tasks into a generic state issued idiot sheet.

Lets hope that NAPLAN contains all the ingredients of a successful educated life - as it appears to be the only the thing the kids are learning!

Agree about the Naplan. Too much focus on it. And geographic restrictions too as each state has its own syllabus. Teachers here have been sacked for cheating on the system. Just hope the Naplan teaches things kids need to know. It's Naplan for the sake of if.

I like the Milwaukees or maybe Hitachi, but don't know if I can justify the $$$

Hitachi are pretty good, as are Makita (plenty of cheap Makitas around if you look, imported stuff but made in the same factory as our ones, around half the going rate). If you are interested in spending some dough - stay clear of DeWalt (am I allowed to say that here?) - they used to be the best, but have been bought out by Black and Decker for some time now, who have (allegedly) gone el cheapo on the quality.
I only got the Milwaukees cos there was a good sale on, and there were girls in bikinis, a bbq and beer... and I think a Monster Truck out the front. The Good Lady knows if she lets me buy toys like that I'll get a bit of work around the house done. Some of the cough I've tried to make has turned into firewood though...

Our school doesn't seem to make a big fuss out of naplan. If they teach them the relevant stuff then they should pass. In fact, I'm not really sure how you can coach of NAPLAN, as it's designed to test capabilities. So if you learn to be capable of addition and subtraction, for example, what's the issue.

Now cheating by giving the answers really should be dealt with hard, because then they really are just learning to give an answer.

Hoping the new dog next door (new neighbours) gets used to its new home and new noises soon ... and its owners get home soon ...

Thumbs up to online windscreen wiper company. Repeat customer voucher lapsed, emailed this morning asking for extension. Reply this afternoon with new code (same discount). Products selected online, all done. Free delivery.

Contrast with retail store (happened to be across the road, walked in - car parked some distance away). Unable to look up part, "you have to bring it in for me to look at".

No wonder online is killing physical stores.

We need an asylum seeker boat to arrive right now and one of them becomes the 23,000,000 Australian.
