We need an asylum seeker boat to arrive right now and one of them becomes the 23,000,000 Australian.

Not really.. I'm already contributing enough tax, without more burden & people 'sitting on the wagon" for us (worthy legal citizens & taxpayers) to pull.

There will be more boats. That's a monty. They may as well arrive at an inconvenient time for this population count. As far as spending money I see that Gillard has bribed NSW so hope the other states stay firm.

Seems some locals are having far more than 2 or 3......

Well it is a job (for a certain portion of society) to produce massive baby fleets. There's money in them loins. And of course, many of the children will live off welfare the rest of their lives. Perfect circle of life.

I don't think it's the migrants we need to worry about when it comes to working hard once they had the chance to settle into the country. It's the generational unemployed who have been living here for many years who are the great public money absorbers.

speaking of great money absorbers...

the Victorian Opera Annual report 2011-12

Total Government Funding: almost $4 million
Box office: $1.1 million
Sponsorship and other donations: $900,000.

Total audiences for all perfomances/workshops/school visits: 83,000 people. Highest number attending any one opera: 20,000.

Why doesn't the government just kick in the final $1million and make the opera totally free - we already, as tax payers, spend enough on what I'm almost inclined to consider a work-for-the-dole program. Being free might increase some of the audiences.

Makes sense to me.

Awesome, road rage at the PO. Lady in 500SL (a regular) when pulling into the driveway cut across a mini truck. Words exchanged through open windows, then lady kept driving in to park. Mini truck drives in and parks across her, denying exit and then lets loose with a string of profanity. Even though she apologised "I'm sorry, I didn't see you" he kept mouthing off. Thankfully he reversed back and drove off in a pall of smoke, gesticulating with a single finger and final parting shot of profanity about "class". Hmm, he must have missed her tatts :o ;)

Ok really PO'd. 4 office moves, I finally have a notice board again and I can't find that bit of child art work that has followed me during all the moves. I've been through everything, I've found the posters that were previous up on the notice board with the art work. But can't find the dinosaur. :(

This is my OCD moment; when I know I had something and then can't find it!

At least I've cleaned out a decent amount of other rubbish.

Should have purchased more:

Since you last traded the shares have gained 21.46% and are trading near their 52-week high.

Come back to it later today with a clear head. Be methodical in checking. Would you have put it aside or together with the other posters? I have a whole bunch of artwork in my office, you can borrow one if you want..

My Ozito cordless drill finally died over the weekend putting this together - not bad for $49 and 7 years of use I suppose.

The question now is do I buy another one, or invest in something of supposed "higher quality".....

I stick to Bosch - always have done. No real issues. boygr also now his own Bosch drill..

Wonder what the UK system is like...

They have had a National Curriculum for many years (since maybe 1998?) - they are not hampered by the states needing to have their own layers of bureaucracy as we are here.

Did you "file" it during the clean out?

Thanks for the offer LW. I do have a fair bit of stuff at home. Just gotta get it over the Sydney.

Did you "file" it during the clean out?

The problem is I specifically remember not filing it. ;)

I almost broke out the pitchforks and torches to chase down the people who used my desk on my days off.

I hate people using my desk when I'm not at work! The mess that gets left behind (including cups of cold coffee) is just revolting. Apparently I also supply stationary to the rest of the group (ie. too lazy to go upstairs to get their own).

Perhaps write/etch 'Stolen from blackcat20" on your articles.. that should get them thinking next time they sample your stationary.

I have taken to sticking big labels on things that say 'this belongs to blackcat20', even on my post-it notes. I know who the culprit is so I pop in in the am and collect all my bits and pieces...

But unless you buy your own stationery, doesn't it belong to everyone/ the company?

Totally agree Pushka - I get quite irksome with people that demand to keep "their" chair or "their" stapler when it was funded by the company.
