Always interesting doing a JQ price beat when the opposition is not showing all inclusive airfares ;), will feel somewhat guilty consuming a drink in the SIN QP knowing it costs more than what I paid for the upcoming flight.

Is it too soon to say Queenslander!!!

What was that about hubris?

Let's not get too coughy. The Blues are tipped to be favourites, and it's the opening match on their soil, a psychological victory on the line on hostile turf.

And you have to let them win one now and again.

They're only favourites to keep them interested. Otherwise, they'd all be going off to the Sydney film festival tonight.

Oh. You're talking about Rugby League. Thought you were moving to Qld. Sorry. That's all I care to know about Rugby.

In the common people's basket of "Things I Couldn't Give A Stuff About", at least in QLD and NSW, the State of Origin rates a lot higher than any election.

I know. It's kinda sad though. I 'get' sport, my partner was a professional cricketer but Rugby League is just, well, I just would rather stab myself in the eye ball than watch it. And I know that's going create a lotta hate mail. :).

Don't worry, I'm with you on that one!

I always prefer sports where the idea is to avoid or at least get past one another..

Blasphemer!!! Don't get Rugby confused with rugby league. I've been known to fly to Brisbane to watch a rugby game. The last rugby league game I attended was in the super league era and only because the tickets were free and I didn't have washing to do or lawns to mow. Still after the debacle of the rugby (union) World Cup games in Adelaide, I wouldn't expect a South Ozzie to know the difference. ;)

Anyway, I am still a queenslander and beating NSW is important. It's a parochial thing.

Ummm, that is the idea of both league and union. To get the ball past the opposition.

I don't mind real World Rugby so much. I'm not getting confused that's why I said League. But i see i should have said it TWICE. You mentioned the Blues which is NSW. Rugby League. Blah. They're just advertising it on TV. So yes, even a crow eater female knows the difference. They all usually end up with weirdo ears and necks though. And noses. Don't forget the noses.

I wish you'd been sitting behind me at Adelaide oval in 2003 in that case. Front row for the wallabies game and nothing was visible below the waist, where about 83% of the game is played. But I sure as hell copped abuse for standing up to actually see the game. "Sit down, we can't see."

Yeah I know you can't see, that's why I'm standing up!

Anyway, I'll cut off my rant about sports administrators.

Sure..In Theory! but I can imagine the pre-game pep talk
"Ok guys now today we're going to score some tries by getting it past the opposition, so we all know the strategy?"
"YES! lets go right up the middle THROUGH them!"

Quibbling about the how, does not alter the fact that the point is to get past them. I would also point out that Lynach did not earn the reputation as the neatest man in the game by trying to go through people.

Our business partner who is Welsh is a rabid Rugby fan. He travelled to NZ to the Final, was it a World Cup Final? a couple of years ago and cancelling a planned trip to Fiji. He was interviewed by BBC just randomly and seconds later received a text from his family in Wales as they had just seen his live interview.

A truly great post IMHO.

It also doesn't alter the fact that League is a thugs game :!:
