Not sure about that. The OCD cavemen were probably too busy organising their wardrobe to notice the dinosaur* that ate them.

* yes I know no cavemen were eaten by dinosaurs. That why it's funny.

They may have been OCD about their choice for cave painting crayons. Which explains the longevity of then ;)

I remember way back we were having a discussion about travel wallets and hope that some of you may find this useful if looking for a gift for that special someone:

Some beautiful pieces there. The delivery charges are pretty steep (30 GBP) but allowing for the exchange rate and the fact that VAT is removed from the cost price it works out to be not too shabby

Now I'm waiting anxiously for JohnK to tell us what he did in Brisvegas last weekend? ;)

Goodness me, where were you educated? :).

Indeed. I saved up for months for a set of twelve as they were so expensive and they looked so beautiful in their box I never wanted to use them.
I was very jealous of a classmate in Grade 6 who had a set of 72 Derwents. Show off. Mind you she also had patent leather shoes, a sunray pleated skirt AND a fuzzy wuzzy bolero (sorry. Talking the 50s here in case those references are mysterious!)

I was given one of those large sets when I was in primary school; I was very particular about who could borrow what, and it had to go back in the right spot.

Oh my goodness, I thought I was the ONLY ONE! :)

But my mum was an excellent knitter and I had lots of fuzzy wuzzy boleros.

There was also a girl in Grade One who had the cutest little bluebird glasses. I thought they were gorgeous. So next annual eye check, I faked my eye test. Of course, I had no way to fake it properly so when the optometrist said my results showed I was blind, my gig was up. But those glasses were so gorgeous, and I was all of six!

I think blackcat was the girl we all despised for "having it all. But at least she shared. Carefully.

Why chook eggs?

The turkey will put them in his mound. They will go off and stink. And he will go away. And the lady turkeys won't be attracted to him and his stinky mound, and won't give him (more) eggs.

And why chilli flakes? Sounds like you're cooking not chasing off turkeys

It irritates them somehow, and they apparently don't like digging it. We'll see. I'm not sure how effective that part will be.

Meh! Both my children have big boxes or some sort of pencil or other. Fancy and expensive and are all individually coded so they can be replaced. Is this derwent?

Sounds like it.

Apparently mine might have fallen off the back of the truck

Maybe, there are many suburbs where there are stores of the same brand on the each side of the road facing each other..........both end up returning poor results.

Bunnings are now doing the same in an attempt to starve Masters.

Costco model is completely different - 6th largest retailer in the World with only 600 odd storeabs

WOW and WES have thousands of stores each.

Yes, most of the retailers do it. Re your first point, it depends on what you mean by poor results;with the low margins in retail, stopping competitors from taking your sales is essential but must be done with strict controls of fixed and variable costs to maximise profitability.
Depending on the level of fixed costs, loss of sales to a competitor can be a disaster; a certain level of sales revenue is essential to cover fixed costs. The Costco model will also be subject to these constraints over time (revenue is helped by the membership fee), but a degree of cross- subsidisation in larger retailers is possible for quite some time.

Costco do about $180 million per store so it makes others look a bit ordinary.
There are around 700 vendors to Bunnings who were de- ranged when they supplied Masters so there are quite a few hoping Bunnings get hit with customers asking for products that are no longer on their shelves.

having just visited our new masters shop ( along with half the town!) why cant i have points for my purcahses!!

Don't suffer JohnK! Embrace and enjoy, whatever form it takes! :)
If it wasn't for the OCD and ASD people of the world, we'd probably still be living in caves.
I think it is sufferring when you are trying to get out of the house and you can't because you need to check every window, door, stove/oven and when you get to the front door you forgot if you checked the laundry door. So it starts all over again. :(

And then you finally get out and cannot let go of the door handle as you are not sure the door is closed. Twist and turn, twist and turn. :(

And then you finally walk out into the street only to return as you were not sure you closed the door. :(

But I have finally worked out my own little system into tricking myself that seems to work most of the time....

Slimy business tactic. If there is a list somewhere perhaps people should start a grass roots campaign and start requesting those items at bunnings!
