Rugby League was invented in old blighty? Really?

Didn't really take off much in the world scene then other than parts of Australia. And Rugby Union is very different to League.

Yeah invented in the north of England. Breakaway league from union as such. The poms do a reasonable job of beating Australian teams in the annual club champions' game/s.

As in they don't do spit roasts, or use pot plants at casinos for lavatorys?

They love a good roast, but tend to keep it amongst themselves. They are not called rugger buggers for nothing.

Sadly I do. It just reinforces everything I ever thought about rugby.

Forget about Rugby.....amongst other things it's standard practice at any SLSC around the country.

Great Aussie institution:!:

Now at the 5 week mark in the West, still no furniture, but its in Perth they have just been to busy or lazy to bother to ring me to organize a delivery, it might turn up Tuesday.

Also the internet box turned up, I tried to install it last night, got part way through the set up and said not working, so I gave up had a few drinks bad idea and tried again today and now I am getting a different fault.

Interesting this weekend and for the next few days the Fremantle train line is completely shut down, at least I don't catch the train to work, they are lowering a part of the inner city section of the train line to allow better access between Perth city and the neighboring suburb Northbridge, sounds like a developer saw an opportunity and Perth CBD decided it was a good idea, Perth City Link This is in contrast to Fremantle; the place has tried very hard to preserve its past but it means the council is almost broke because of the lack of development. There is also talk of amalgamating but no one wants to team up with Fremantle because its broke.

Last week brought a heater good idea that was, as part of Perth were recording temperatures of 0. I will be looking forward to my fridge turning up as the current borrowed one has 2 options, off and frozen.

Back to trying to figure out the internet, might have to ring Telstra.

Well they do wear those little budgie smugglers jammed up the cheeks, not surprising the cox gets ideas. ;)

So you're posting on the internet telling us you can't connect to the internet? :!:

That's what mobile data on a plan is for.

That said, I'm not sure if there's a free internet hotspot any where in Perth, let alone Freo (educational institutions excepted).

Must remember to insert ironical smilie.

Well...meanwhile we are switching from Bigpond to TPG.

The folks sealed the deal with TPG last week, but the service won't be activated until Thursday 17/7.

But we start a new "month" with Bigpond tomorrow.

Dad hopes that once TPG comes online, we can cancel with Bigpond and get a pro rata refund for the rest of the month. I didn't have the heart to tell him my hunch, lest I endure his wrath.

Plenty of them, at the usual places (bunch of Macdonalds, lots of cafes, etc etc)

Interesting having a meal in a Thai restaurant across the road from the "Ministry for Disease Prevention".

South Aussies are very familiar with Rugby Union. It's that weird game invented in the eastern states that leaves us cold.

To be honest my perception of Rugby Union is it is played by the rich and well off in NSW and QLD.

Well...meanwhile we are switching from Bigpond to TPG.

We are also moving to TPG (not from Bigpond though). The saving for us once factoring in home phone (which we use once in a blue moon ($7-$10 of calls every 3 months on the Telstra bill now...) will be close to $50 per month.

I do like my current ISP, they have been incredible in our time with them but that is a lot of money. We are in a Telstra HFC cabled area but that is far too expensive for internet. Something in the region of $145/mo with unlimited calls included and 500gb - but uploads counted, and like I mentioned before the calls are irrelevant now. We aren't on the 3-year NBN construction maps either.
