I have never seen a bed that tidy after even one person has slept in it overnight. Let alone a couple ;)
The majority of the time I am staying in hotel rooms the bed looks almost perfect in the morning. For some reason I am able to sleep in a small corner of the bed without moving around all night.

It also helps if they are using sheets or doonas.

I have expunged almost all memory of fondue parties....seem to remember copious quantities of red wine and much late-in-thenight port. Probably because the fondue tasted disgusting

Why am I picturing people with afros listening to Spandau Ballet while sitting on bean bags?

Related: I should put up the pic of me at Spandau train station in Berlin trying to look like I can dance.

There's always something exciting happening where I live.

Doonas! 1 of the other words my wife won't let me use....... ("No Flashback, it's a duvet!"), thongs is another one

Just checked....I have nearly 27 weeks' worth of sick leave:shock:. Clearly, i have not been "gaming the system" well enough....

You prompted me to go and have a look at my current leave entitlements:

Annual Leave - 69 hours (or 9.2 days)
Personal (Sick and Carer's) leave - 1733 hours (or 231 days, or 46 weeks)
Long Service Leave - 333 hours (or 44.4 days, or 8.8 weeks)

That is a total of 2135 hours, or 284.7 days, or almost 57 weeks.
I also have 16.5 weeks annual leave (was 23 weeks 3 years ago but am being forced to take AL:p) and 35 weeks LSL so all up I could be away from work for 78 weeks or 1.5 years:mrgreen::mrgreen:

Now all I need is a doctor to give me a certificate to say I am unfit for work for the next year
I could be bribed:p

So what happens if a doctor is sick & they can't go to work? Can they write their own medical certificate?
I wish!! If I'm away from work for more than 2 days, I too need a sick certificate:(. I have asked my colleagues to write me one in the past but it does stretch favours a bit so I often struggle back to work after 2 days no matter what to avoid the need for a sick certificate! (and I have had 2 colds in the last 3 months!! http://www.australianfrequentflyer.com.au/community/playground/cold-remedies-49645.html)

I had to look up that word. Sounds French but is British English. I prefer the Australian English version. :p

Ah yes... but come to think of it, it is only the Aussies who say doona, isn't it? :)

Bucket, bouquet anyone? :D

...thongs is another one

Probably because most people in the world associate that with the underwear (or pants or knickers as it were in England). You could go Kiwi and say jandals :p

In my Asian upbringing, we knew them as "slippers".

Come to think of it, there's a bit of a male saying that goes, "I wear the pants in this relationship." I suppose that's comically incorrect in Old Blighty....

Next time she insists it's a duvet, you should reply, "I doona know what you're talking about".

And then run.

And if you can run really fast, you can try saying "You doona know what you're talking about".

Wow, you need to come to a WA hospital. Any of my colleagues would write a cert at the drop of a hat, but admin barely care that you aren't there, let alone require a cert. I haven't ever taken a sick day (only 4 working years in this profession) but many colleagues have, and had no issues with time off.

After having my medical clearance taken off me on Monday & dealing with my sick mother on Tuesday, I returned to my Place of Employment on Wednesday with my medical clearance returned, Clarance. So I thought...

I arrive on Wednesday to the words "What are you doing here? The roster still shows you as sick."

A few phone calls later & I was magically not sick any more.

As if I haven't had enough drama this week..

I went to buy some vitamins today. The brand I like in the UK has three sizes available : 28, 60 and 90.
First one was roughly 5 pounds. Second roughly 9.50, third roughly 14. (difference per pill was about 1p each increment in size)

Now which one did I buy? The pack of 84 for 10 quid. (Buy three, pay for two). I love the way retailers price stuff in the UK...

(And before anyone starts on the Multivitamins are useless spiel, yes these ones actually do assist...)

I like the concept that if all the fish oil capsules actually had fish oil in them there would be no fish left in the oceans.
Despite that my cardiologist says take three of them daily and take folic acid.
Now he believes in red wine so who am I to argue.....
