The totally off-topic thread

We locked our interest rates for just over 3 years because I thought I could hear the bell ringing.
If it was a school bell it may be a cost but we wanted certainty for our next projects.

LOL! last night for some bizarre reason I ended up watching Youtube clips of "they tuk ar jobs!",,someone has made a 10hr long version of one.,...

Interesting to note that this video has had views in 6 figures. Obviously the people who watched it for 10 hours had their jobs tuked already.

All I'm saying is that if my employment contract required me to do 7.5 hours a day (and there is not overtime) my time sheet will say 7.5 hours. Regardless of actually hours worked.

I tell my team to put actual hours. Some put 8hrs/day for each day of the week, and they almost always start at 7:30am and finish at 4pm. If they do 36hrs or 48hrs, I want the time to be actual. I look at it from a project management perspective, as our time is captured against particular coding. If we've had people working 60hr weeks for a project and only entering 40hrs into their timesheet because they're not paid overtime, then 1. they have nothing other than their claim to back up that they were doing the hours and 2. if we want to use the system's total hours for the project to estimate a future project, we will be out if they are under or over reporting their time.

I don't currently have to approve their timesheets, but will have to in the future, or the managers of the projects that they work on will have to.

Weird fact from this mornings ward round:
Apparently there is only one Estonian medical interpreter in Australia :!:

Not too surprising. I hadn't thought of medical interpreting until I went to a translator's and interpreter's conference the other week. A lot of the interpreting information was for the medical field. Certainly don't want an "intoxicado" false friend in the medical world here.

Some days I'm a coal miner. Some days I'm Homer Simpson. But today & tomorrow, I'm a Princess. A nice change compared to the earlier parts of the week.

Oh dear, I read that as earlier pants of the week.  And immediately thought that a princess frock is definitely a change from pants.

Is it knock off time yet???

On that note, better finish my lunch break and get back to work!

What do they talk about at a translator & interepter conference?

Sunday's pants will be better than the pants from earlier in the week because Sunday's pants won't be the schoolboy grey pants I'm wearing now.

I so need this 2 week break starting Sunday!

I'll leave the frock wearing to the ladies! ;)

When I briefly worked as a consultant I was asked to bill in 15 minute blocks. I hated that cough, because it did require rounding.

All I'm saying is that if my employment contract required me to do 7.5 hours a day (and there is not overtime) my time sheet will say 7.5 hours. Regardless of actually hours worked.
I agree with you. It is how I have done things for the entirety of my working career until now.

The rules are fairly clear. We are required to work 7.5 hours/day but cannot round up/down to nearest 15 minutes and you are certainly not allowed to have 7.5 hours/day everyday on your timesheet either as apparenntly it is impossible to log 7.5 hours everyday.

So in saying that I do not understand how some people get away with it. Luck? Favourites?

P.S I think I could be confusing people with a point here. We are not required to keep a timesheet of when we start/finish work and time off for lunch etc.

We are required to keep a track of all the jobs we have worked on and to log time to those jobs. This is a job logging system. We also log meeting time etc. It is impossible to log 7.5 hours/day when you are keeping track of that level of detail. Some days it is going to be 7.517 hours, other days it is going to be 7.483 hours but it cannot be 7.5 hours/day every day unless you were fudging your hours to make up 7.5 hours/day.

I was looking at your last post on this thread and if you don't log in you will see a smiling 40 plus lady on a singles site. The question is obvious. "Is that a Tiffany bracelet ?"
