Freo winning messes up a few teams travel plans and ambitions. Prelim in Perth now.

....and yes didn't you enjoy putting those kilos on!!
Not at all.

The first 6 months I did not even notice and I put on 15kg-16kg after I gave up smoking.

Golf going downhill is the biggest casualty. It was great playing off 6-7 handicap but not so good playing off 12+ handicap....

We loved watching the game live in London.i could hear the 4,000 in the Dockers crowd when the Geelong crowd fell silent in the last 15 minutes. Both of my sons will get back to Perth with hoarse voices because they are a bit loud.

And of course that means no Hawthorn-Geelong grand final.

They could be playing one another in the preliminary final instead....

Sorry to break into the footy thread (Go Pies). Can anyone explain why Amazon - and many other US websites - now only ships certain things to Oz? I just got a random email from Amazon spruiking electronics 'now shipping to Australia'. My query is prompted by the arrival of a parcel of some some shoes from Amazon exactly the same as two pairs I bought last year - but now you can't buy them direct and I went down the re-posting route (having a US forwarding address). They were Sketchers brand - regardless of whether its shoes, electronics or any other product, I wonder who is it who imposes this ban?

Usually the suppliers trying to protect local revenue recognition, ie Bose.

Totally agree why is someone else deciding where I spend my hard earned cash? Geographical restrictions. You get the same happening when wanting to watch Netflix. Your IP address is not from USA it will be blocked.

And buying DVDs

Yay. Baking efforts last night will have given two organisations $60 profits each in their election day stalls. :)

Just bought my first ever home. Feeling chuffed. Hard work and living like a Scrooge for 9 months has paid off.

Well done and congratulations. Savour and celebrate the moment.
....now to pay off the 30 year mortgage; but it is worth it in the end.

Reading somewhere that after stopping smoking your gut flora (bacteria) changes, which means the flora changes to bacteria that is more efficient at absorbing fat which the body absorbs hence the weight gain.

Indeed. Rort.

When the local company has to pay local wages then where is the rort.

The other thing is if i bring a shipment in from overseas if the goods are under $1,000 then there is no GST or the $55.20 customs entry fee that has to be paid, if over $1,000 then I am paying GST plus the $55.20 and sometimes the 5% duty for the goods.

If you would rather I didn't support other local advertising, like magazines or newspapers which then support your local newspaper/corner shop then please continue to buy from a US or Chinese supplier.

So as an importer you tell me where there is a rort.

Insulin resistance does not help either.

Your specific case (and I mostly agree with your views) is a lot different to many others.

Streaming of media from overseas.
Electronic fulfilment of product (software mainly).
And even withstanding these types of categories you can't tell me that a mass consumer product sold in the U.S (imagine a shoe for example) should cost 100-250% more in Australia. Niche products I can see how demand/supply can affect the prices greatly.

Somehow, my last train last night said that I was carrying around 6000 passengers in an 8 car train. The usual crush load is around 2000. Ironically, the train was almost empty.

Interesting that it almost appears to be a choice in some people between giving up smoking and putting on weight.
Presumably, taking up smoking must change gut flora as well.

I didn't know that trains could talk, but it was obviously lying.

Maybe you just replace the cigarette with food - something to do with your hands?
