I rarely travel on commuter trains nowadays.. That miserable demure appearance on most faces.. simply depresses me.
And that is simply life today.

How many people are truly happy all the time? No point sugar coating it.

I use PT more now than ever mainly due to traffic reasons.

I can be in CBD just over 1 hour 20 mins on the train and in the car it will take app 2 hours on a bad run and on a good run about 1 hour 30 mins no parking issues in the city if take PT.

As people in my Facebook feed now know... Imagine being on a train where one person is chatting to another about how he nearly committed suicide that morning by jumping in front of a train. Depressive indeed!

That would be a difficult conversation to be a part of or to listen to.

It was seriously strange. But, the more someone talks about committing suicide the less chance they are actually going to do it.

The best commute I ever did on "PT" was whilst on work/holiday in Sydney - morning ferries across the harbour. Preceded by the coffee cart on the landing How could you not start the day in a good mood? That would lift your heart every morning.....though I WAS on holiday; maybe it would become ho hum after a bit

TSA & Border Security types are not the easiest people to make laugh. But this shirt did make one guy at PDX laugh. He was also pleased that I did not display my password in plain text.

At one stage when I was based at Central, I was thinking of moving to Manly for that very reason. But as a shiftworker, it's not good when the ferries stop.

Often people who do it leave their families surprised as they saw no signs. Then again, people's state of mind & their mental health are hard things to work out.

It's a small world.

That is amazing that you ran into Fredd like that. He was a great help to me with Vancouver.

Yes, it was rather uncanny. They overheard me talking about East Coast Lagoon food village being closed right now for renovations & restoration and mentioned they too were planning to go there to get some chilli crab. We then got talking and they mentioned having been in Aus and straight away I think "Hmm.... OzFest?", anyway one thing led to another and the FT link was found - they also remembered meeting me at OzFest in ADL. Very small world indeed.

I lived in Neutral Bay in the early '80s. There was a breakfast bar at the top of the block on the way down to Neutral Bay wharf where I would stop in and fuel up. A quick walk down to the wharf, jump on one of the little old inner-harbour ferries to chug around the bay and then over to the Quay, followed by a brisk walk up to Martin Place where I was working. Fabulous way to start the day - did it for about a year and didn't get sick of it!

An ex colleague passed away through unnatural causes. I think their Facebook page has now been taken down but people would randomly post happy birthday, what are you up to type of posts.... Then of course there were those who did the memorial type of posts too. Always interesting to note.

I hate it when FB says "You haven't talked to Person X for a while" & you know that you haven't because Person X has died.

Worse yet when you find out via FB that someone you know has gone.

Summer has started.

Fans are all on and windows open.

Have not put air con on yet.

Hope I can stretch that out for another few weeks otherwise it will be long expensive summer.
