I am a big person for manners.

Little Miss Simo if I may say so as a parent has good manners and people do compliment her on them.

Well done Simo.. :D
It often took some challenging moments though..
My daughters nowadays also have very desirable manners (also shared comments from random people) & proud to take them anywhere.

Im always amazed by people who can't even manage a simple thank you; a little bit of good manners goes a long way.

I am very much the same with little Miss Simo,

A Thank you goes along way with people

PrincessFiona mentioned in the headphones thread about DJs changeover in their Electrical department to Dick Smiths, was in the Brisbane store earlier today and it looks like Bose etc are on their way out as a lot were marked down, and the staff look like they have just passed the pimples stage. Some of the store already has Dick Smith merch, otherwise known has Chinese made cheap rubbish, cannot help but think in a few short months most customers will be wondering just what exactly DJs were thinking with the move, very cheap.

If you are 50 or more there is now a Shingles Vax available in Australia for about $250. We had ours in the local Ralph's supermarket in Marina del Rey in California. It is good for 5 years the article in AFR says.

Apart from a brief stint when I was was 22 I've known nothing but shift, thankfully it's no longer 24/7!

With the exception of a 'quick change' I enjoyed shift work.

Edit: it was a bit of a social life killer though.

Found a good parking spot at Lidcombee.

Went & had a massage.

Rocked up to sign on at Lidcombee 30 minutes early - was going to eat & settle in for an afternoon of standby.

I see my sign on clerk at Lidcombee & jokingly ask if I can put that 30 minutes in the bank for future use. He tells me I'm on Shed, not standby.

I get some food & head to Blue Depot.

Mystery solved when I signed on.

Under the current diagram (a diagram
tells me what I'm doing today, each job has a different diagram number), 463 & 465 diagrams are Shed (I'm 465). 464 is standby.

Under the new diagrams, 463 & 464 are Shed (moving trains around the depot) & 465 is standby (or as jb747 might call it - being on reserve or others call it, Airport Appreciation Day.)

Someone put the new diagrams in front of the rosters & I've read the new diagrams that don't start until Sunday.

Now to settle in front of the TV while I wait to move my version of a 747 around the jet base.

I enjoyed the joys of Shingles about 10 years ago. Horrible. And that was with the anti-viral as soon as the symptoms appeared.

I loved telling them about my two days off during the week, e.g. Wed/Thurs and how good they were. It goes both ways and I do miss shift work at times.

I don't mind it so much as long as I can start in the afternoons. I've just come off a nice 4 day break which was awesome.

A typical week when I was in ATC was:

Day 1 Late 4PM to 1030PM
Day 2 Day 9 to 5
Day 3 Morning 6-1PM
Day 4 Morning 6-11, then back at 10l30PM for night shift until 6AM.

Needless to say Day 4 was not my favorite, and I always found 3AM the hardest time!

You know you fly too much when upon landing in SYD and having to a domestic connection back home to MEL that as soon as I sat down in the dom J Lounge I said to myself "gosh its good to be home."
As if the Dom J lounge was actually my home.......

Also in a not cool statistic QF497 is my most popular flight this year, not cool at all - very long days.
