Eeeewwww!

Just had a drink out of a communal cup in the meal room. It smelt like cigarette. Yuck.

That sounds disgusting.I do not touch the plates, glasses or cutlery at our office. Use plastic cutlery, my own containers for food and plastic bottles for water.

We have a dishwasher at work and a lot of plates and cups (but have a list for ownership of each cup). No problems here :D.

My problem is I'm not normally stay in the one place for the whole shift like I am today.

So I might start at location A, have a meal break at location B, have downtime at location C & finish at location D.

I did buy my own cup (an Officeworks cheapy) but someone either broke or stole it. It's the 2nd cup to do this so I don't bother any more.

Wasted a trip to BWS for 700 bonus QFF points only to find nothing I would buy at a price anywhere within cooee of normal pricing so I walked out empty handed.
Went to Masters Hardware and used a Woolies 5% off gift card. You cannot use your 5% off Coles gift card at Bunnings so I drove past them.

How do you know the plates/glasses have been through the dishwasher and not just rinsed with cold water and placed back in the clean lot?

Because my two staff are both old fashioned females plus they put the dishwasher on before they leave - and I can see/hear it going when I leave

That is good that you can trust them.

I have seen people use the glass to drink water and then rinse and put back with clean glasses. Same with utensils.

Some people have flithy habits they wish to pass on to all....

Our Practice Manager has been with us longer than me, so I trust her implicitly. We thought we'd have trouble replacing her, then we found another mini-her. She has been with us 2 years and working out well.

I'll bite. :p. What is a old fashioned female?
Baby Boomer

Employ a lazy 18yo and you will find out ;)
Done that only once, a long time ago

We used to have tea ladies coming around the office serving tea and coffee in cups and mugs.
Invariably they were older females and they were real treasures.
They were on top of their game and often knew more about what was going on in the office than we did.
Woe betide anyone who crossed them.
Never asked them how well they washed the cups and mugs, but I have survived.
Those were the days!!!

Well apparently then, I am an old fashioned female as I am a baby boomer. I will admit to a hard work ethic, but not the old fashioned thing.

We've had a wide range of people employed in our business. The laziest? A 38 year old woman. She's recently left and after just a month her replacement asks what she used to do all day. Turns out that others kept covering up for her until one day they had enough.

The next was in her fifties. Then another in her twenties.

I don't think it's got much to do with age. More personal values.

As an Irish novelist said, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder"....

Staff,

Need them to help run a business but sometimes just way too hard to keep it all together as well.

I have had some great staff over the years but then they have the highs and lows.

One of my staff members was awesome and then use to get annoyed about something and would go off the rails for a while have a chat with them and back to the good times and then start the slide again.

I have seen staff that think that the business can just waste money on cough or the other thing I like is when staff say it is OK it is a tax deduction anyway.

I don't care I still have to have the money to pay for it at the start.

The one I enjoy is when staff place an order for stock and order an excessive amount and there line is at least we have stock for the next few months.

No don't care we can order today and have it in a day or so...

And then you get aged stock... brilliant... not.

Actually, pretty good you can get orders within a day or so. When I used to work at HN, the average stock order would take about three business days (weekends don't count, even though we traded on the weekends). Store transfers were not so bad but if the item was selling hot you had buckley's chance convincing another store to give you stock. Nothing like having to track customer backorders...
