I must be very sad then
When I'm at work I carry a DECT phone AKA the BAT phone. Must be on me at all times, unless I'm lucky enough to get lunch and someone takes over.
Don't know whether a call to it means "can you have a look at this hip and see if it needs x-rayed" or "MVA, unconscious, hypotensive in resus in 5 mins". Always a bit self-conscious if there's someone in the next cubicle.
In defence of myself I wouldn't answer my own mobile though and don't know why anyone would conduct contracts in there

My biggest fear in the loo is the fire line ringing. Haven't had it happen yet. Closest until this week was being in the hallway between the ops room & the radio room.

But a couple of nights ago, I was letting the garbage truck into the compound (I had the gate on manual mode, not auto) & the fire line went off. Can't hear it outside the building.

My radio operator was in the room & took the call.

Aah, but there is a reason for you answering the phone. It's not you renegotiating your phone contract (!) or discussing how the customer account is going with your colleague.

Western Union makes me laugh. Well not quite but close.

- If you send $100 to Thailand the fee is $10
- If you send $110 to Thailand the fee is $22
- If you send $200 to Thailand the fee is $35

You are really getting ripped off big time if you send $200 in one transaction. Why not just send $100 twice!

When things don't go right they don't go right. Do they?

My Windows Vista laptop decided not to play anymore. Start it up and it switches itself off! (All my "important" documents are stored there) And don't lecture me why I do not have any backups. Obviously they are not that important!

So I started up the Windows XP machine. Tried to use a website and I had to install Adobe Flash Player. Well after 2-3 hours of stuffing around Snap.Do has managed to hijack the machine and I cannot do anything with it.

So unfortunately I am now using the Windows 7 machine. :( All the laptops are Lenovos (I love the nipple) but this keyboard is useless.

I know. I know. At least I can still access the internet. No idea how I am going to do it but I will have to try and get all the files off the Windows Vista machine....

Probably time to find a buddy who can crack open the laptops, has an external HDD caddy and hook up those up to a system so you can recover some files.

I've witnessed workmates being threatened with violence for mentioning those dangerous 5 letters!

When I'm here, I ban the Q word.

I ban the H word.

I ban the R word but I don't have much to do with it.

I'm more worried about the H word than the R word.

Easier said than done. I think we have a HDD caddy at home that could be suitable.

Well it is goodbye Sydney and the rich tapestry of life on rail, ferries and buses and back to the cocooned Lexus world of driving back in Perth. My eyes and nose will appreciate the less smokey air in Perth.

Good luck and personally I don't miss the ancient sweltering non a/c trains that I could run faster than, the smelly loud non a/c buses and the ferries prone to cancellation at all ;) :)

(Lived in Syd a little too long!)
