The totally off-topic thread

At the end of my shift this morning, I was using the loo when a voice said to me: "If you need emotional support, call the Salvos Careline."

I'm a little disturbed about that!

I was in a loo recently where a guy was finalising a contract on his phone. Trust me, I have heard it all. I made sure my tinkle was especially loud just for that tool.

Phonecalls in toilets are sad. Yet I see people walk into toilets when on calls and also answer them while in the toilet.

In my case, the fire comms radio & an FM radio station are broadcast around the building. It was an ad for the Salvos.

Many AFFers will be well aware of runaway success of recent Woolworths Animal Cards promotion. Woolworths - Woolies goes wild for Aussie Animals

Official story was that the total volume of collector's albums grossly underestimated - maybe so - maybe not - heard another story that indeed stocks of album were withdrawn due to a 'certain' word contained in puzzle included in album - maybe so - maybe not - was this a 'slip-up'?

I say make full use if needed!

I've seen too many people, particularly males in my workplace and partner agencies just brush off emotional problems with a she'll be right attitude and end up with long term problems

Saw this earlier in the month, it was on 3AWs rumour file.

Supermarket's crossword mishap | 3AW Breakfast

Absolutely hilarious, wonder if someone's career is affected?

Extremely sad when you walk into a toilet to use the urinal and you start hearing voices.

The moron in the cubicle is on the phone.

Not just sad. Disgusting....

<corny ring tone> "Hello? I'm sorry this is not a good time. Look, can I call you back in a bit. No, I really can't talk to you right now! I don't care that my wife's been in an accident, I..."

Then the double take.

True story.

It was 'allegedly' in the WW animal card collector folder. There is another photo in the EDR general offers thread.

I don't know if anyone recalls the Bendigo Bank ads from a few years ago which ended with people holding individual placards spelling the word 'COMMUNITY', but this little episode reminds me of it. The letters are popped up in a seemingly random order one by one...well in one version which never got to air (I have seen it), you'll never guess (OK, you probably will, and I'm not going to say ;)) the first four letters to pop up. I don't allege that it was done deliberately, in fact I have no idea, but it definitely happened.

"Take Me Out to the Ball Game"

Oh wait, wrong song.

I am getting ready for tonight :)

I must be very sad then
When I'm at work I carry a DECT phone AKA the BAT phone. Must be on me at all times, unless I'm lucky enough to get lunch and someone takes over.
Don't know whether a call to it means "can you have a look at this hip and see if it needs x-rayed" or "MVA, unconscious, hypotensive in resus in 5 mins". Always a bit self-conscious if there's someone in the next cubicle.
In defence of myself I wouldn't answer my own mobile though and don't know why anyone would conduct contracts in there

When things don't go right they don't go right. Do they?

My Windows Vista laptop decided not to play anymore. Start it up and it switches itself off! (All my "important" documents are stored there) And don't lecture me why I do not have any backups. Obviously they are not that important!

So I started up the Windows XP machine. Tried to use a website and I had to install Adobe Flash Player. Well after 2-3 hours of stuffing around Snap.Do has managed to hijack the machine and I cannot do anything with it.

So unfortunately I am now using the Windows 7 machine. :( All the laptops are Lenovos (I love the nipple) but this keyboard is useless.

I know. I know. At least I can still access the internet. No idea how I am going to do it but I will have to try and get all the files off the Windows Vista machine....

I'm lucky that my Primary & Secondary places of employment have good employee assistance programs. I have used them before & would do so again if needed.
