Yes if you believe it to be. But lies can be easy to spot and can unravel at any time if someone cares enough.
Perhaps specific lies can be easily spotted. There are a lot of people out there living and telling a lie and most people around them are unaware.

Perhaps truth was not the right word.

If you lie long enough does the lie beome reality?

Yes this is a better question.
It is very hard to define truth.
I think in the Bible, Pilate asked "What is truth?" Jesus never had a chance to answer this question.
Even if you are not a religious person, it would have been interesting to know his answer.

Just like many countries were "discovered" by Europeans even though they were already settled by the indigenous people. That's what it says in my Australian History book.

And even the Europeans can't agree on who "discovered" first. Which explains why we don't greet each other with "G'Dia"

Interesting response. I would loved to have known how Jesus would answer that question.

What is truth? If you live a lie then it is possible for the real truth to be distorted by that lie so eventually the lie is the truth and in fact reality.

America and its distribution of wealth

9 Out Of 10 Americans Are Completely Wrong About This Mind-Blowing Fact

Wonder what Australia's charts would look like - not that dissimilar to America methinks:o

This wealth distribution looks similar to that of old Communist/dictatorship countries with some differences in approach:
1. In the US, the wealthy say to the poor/middle class "work harder and you can be rich like us". In the dictatorship, they just execute the poor as required to manage the numbers of them.
2. In the US the rich (think Walmart, fast food chains etc) pay their employees so poorly that many of them need to rely on Govt handouts to survive. In the dictatorship there are no handouts so the poor die.
3. In the US, the poor/middle class are allowed to vote for either of 2 parties who are funded by the wealthy and beholden to them. In the dictatorship the poor are allowed to have a "for show" vote for only 1 party which is part of the rich ruling class.
4. In the US everyone can have guns so the poor can shoot each other. In the dictatorship, the govt kills the poor.

Maybe a little cynical but unfettered or poorly regulated capitalism can have unintended consequences. What will the US do? Shut the govt for a couple of weeks, argue over debt ceilings and hope the problems go away? Or do something about it?

A variation of the pictured quote which I prefer is by Sir Isaac Newton, or Albert Einstein, I think: "Insanity is defined as doing the exact same thing again, but expecting a different result".
Do you think it might be a good idea if I stopped commuting?

Just got the word - I'll be at my control centre for nightshift until at least Sunday night.

On my way home this morning, I saw a convoy of Victorian CFA trucks heading off for another day in the mountains. I couldn't pull over to see the whole convoy or get pics.

There's still lots of work in the bush to be done.

Whilst I agree with you, it's really funny to note that regulation is, on a pure level, an anti-thesis of the principles of capitalism.

It wouldn't be so illogical if not for the fact that capitalism is pushed to that extent out there, and in the US this is strongly tied to the tenets of the US Constitution (of which each amendment and right all citizens hold very, very dear, to ad nauseum literal).

Ahhh... life's paradoxes...

If you lie often enough it doesn't mean it becomes the truth, or lies may be easier to tell but it doesn't mean that it becomes the truth, or words to that effect.
Even if enough people believe it and swear by it?

How would anyone else know the real truth?

Actually, Jesus did answer that question, even before he stood in front of Pilate. See John 14:6.

Tell all of the guys to keep up the good work

We are sure to thank them on a regular basis.

Since this kicked off Thursday week ago, my section have put in well over 1000 hours of work. The control centre I'm in has been staffed 24/7 since then.

Then add the hours of the various members of the Incident Management Team & all the firefighters in my area & that's a lot of people & hours. Then multiply that by various zones, state & interstate crews & that's a lot more.

I'll be on 60 hours this week, coming to the end of day 5.
