I live about 6kms from work which takes about 15 minutes on a bus I probably could walk it in about 1 hour and I have run the distance in 32 minutes.

You should always try and find a place to live close to work but another thought is that you should live on the eastern side of your place of work, that way you drive to and from work away from the sun.

Last year I lived 30-80 minutes from work dependent on shift and traffic.

Now I'm a 10 minute ride on the pushy away, much nicer commute!

In Melbourne, I live out in the "leafy suburbs". It is a good combination of space, affordability, "green", and is still relatively close to the city. There are days I wish I was closer to the city, but there are days I love the extra space and my garden.

To get to work I usually take the train. The train ticket is approximately the same cost as petrol/basic maintenance, but the parking (and "stress") makes driving less attractive.

Depending on traffic & time of day, I'm 30 - 45 minutes drive from my depot. I'm not usually going in the peak direction at the peak time.

Sixty-five years after it first began producing cars in Australia Holden has confirmed it will cease local manufacturing in 2017.


Holden released a statement saying it would "transition to a national sales company in Australia and New Zealand" from 2017, citing the strong Australian dollar, high production costs and the competitive local market for the decision.

Mrs Flashback and I are much the same. Moved out of Central London for a bit more space and some "green". I was against it at first.. but loving it now! It makes no sense to drive to work in London, so train and tube it is. I'm happy to report I caught the early 6.11 train today and there were no delays

It has it's quirks... But when I did drive in, during peak hour... It soon reminded me of how good PT is as you can just switch off, relax and let erkpod do the driving.

Indeed. All electric trains in Australia receive their electricity from overhead wires (in my case, 1500V DC) into a pantograph (collector) into the train.

And what reason would that be? You are saying because it is public people do not have to behave?
