Have just wrapped up some Christmas presents that are flights in the front of planes for the rellies.
May have to wrap them in an envelope including a card rather than a big box.

You gave them flying lessons? Nice! ;-)

Our AFF man from Kitchenware Direct is performing brilliantly for fast deliveries according to Mrscove. It is always good to see him on a flight or two. I hope that helps you Mal.

Thanks markis10. Although not sure (yet) how to get them to deliver to someone else's house.

They have a multiple addresses facility where you tell them which gift goes where but it's all on one order.

It's getting to feel a lot like Christmas.
Snowing in NYC for the last 12 hours.Sidewalks and roads slush.
Not pleasant.

Just finished the ritual swim after a long haul flight.....our hotel outdoor pool here in LA is a balmy 28 degrees

Heading East next week so that'll be the end of outdoor swimming!

Has anyone here hired a houseboat before? I've been thinking about it for years but haven't done it yet. I've got a milestone birthday next year (August) so might do something special. If anywhere, I'd do it on the Hawkesbury River at Brooklyn. Or should I go the whole hog & do it somewhere like on the Gold Coast? LOL
We used to go on a houseboat each summer for many years on the Murray (actually for a week at a time, once a year, for many years*). Great fun - but listen to the instructions before taking the helm.
I've houseboated twice on the Murray.

Good times. Take drinks, music and a book
Agreed, maybe two books. And leave the internet at home.

Maybe an AFF houseboat weekend is on the cards???

Going to be 40C in Adelaide on Thursday. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

What I'd be doing in my best case scenario (with or without AFF involement) is hiring the houseboat for a week. I know that not everyone that I know can do weekends. Not surprisingly, I know a lot of shiftworkers.

So if someone wanted to join me mid week, weekend or all of the above, that would be fine. And if I was alone for a day or two, that would be fine too.

Out of all the people/groups of people I know, I think shipmates made up of AFFers would enjoy it the most.

And as the houseboat captain (I think ... or was it Homer?) said on the Simpsons "If you don't like your neighbours, you just move away from them"

Obviously, he's not aching for a reference from his previous employer.

Poor chap.

If the story as told is what is to be believed, then that's no good. If there's more to the story, however.....

Anyone here still owns cassette tapes*? Or even a tape-based dictation machine?

Some deal-a-day websites are flogging tape player to USB conversion devices... seems odd - thought we were way past that, and in many cases can't you usually just record from OUT to the AUX channel into most computers these days?

I've still got a record player/dual cassette/CD player/radio combo in my bedroom.
