Just a reminder to NSW people & anyone passing through that double demerit points for speeding & seatbelt offences has now started & will be in force until January 1 - even if it is a normal work day.

Yes double demerit points apply in Western Australia from an hour and a half ago.
Try using your phone in your car to answer a call and you may be able to please your family doctor by getting to walk everywhere.

Double demerits - a foreign concept over here.

Well London has a public transport system that mostly works.
Yesterday our port/waterside workers were on strike. Just goes to show you that it is because they can.
I saw Salt Lake City airport was closed yesterday due to heavy snow and here in Australia it is air conditioning time.

That is a nice little post office. My mother is just up the road from there.

Ah. That post office. I was thinking you meant the one in Burnside Village. Can't imagine giving a Christmas card there.

We live between the two!

Our new rail system failed yesterday because of the heat. Apparently it gets hot in Adelaide and it seems to be a surprise to the railways.

If the temp goes 1 degree over 25 here the rail also sees it as a surprise ;)

Of course speeding is generally completely optional.

Having to pay a fine due to such voluntary speeding is not something one can really complain about.

Of course there are areas where perhaps the speed limit may be unreasonably low.

Or where the speed limit is confusing as in Adelaide streets.

Or where there are roadwork restrictions where there are no roadworks in place but signs have been left up. :(

Just saw this on BBC. I hope that all are reasonably ok.

I do wonder about the safety of some of the older buildings these days. People are getting heavier too - which sounds asinine but those seats were built for the much smaller framed bodies of the 1900's. I think the same about that theatre in Melbourne opposite Parliament House.

I am looking forward to riding an electric train for the first time in both ADL & AKL during 2014.

Today in western Sydney we are expecting 41°C so there should be heat related speed restrictions.

I know the rails are in place for the electric trains. But we don't have the trains yet. So they are running diesel trains on tracks designed for electric ones. Just a few teething issues. The tracks wiped out the Southern line for 12 months and they've only just come back online with the old diesels. The state govt have been providing free buses during that 12 months. They probably ran out of money so brought the trains back too early.

Went to a bbq last night and was knocked over by theses little delicacies that the host dished up - so simple - so striking - so delicious - I have never seen this done before - do I need to get out more often?

When I get home from work tonight, there's so many videos on the subject on the SA Infrastructure website & related info to catch up on including a look at driver training. There's so much work to do!

Love the strawberry santas. So simple but very effective. Almost healthy too. Some people are so clever.

Do they do that here in Vic as well?
