I distinctly recall seeing livestock on the narrow strip of land between Military road and the beach just North of Glenelg in the mid early 80's/90's.

(That grassy area was just north of what is now the "Adelaide Shores Resort" - it has been build on since back then.)

I worked in the area until 5 years ago, there were horses in the paddocks adjacent to West Beach rd and Tapleys Hill Rd.

Couldn't get the plans to work when I wanted them to work so I cancelled the flights. While I was there, I upgraded on points to J for my trip in June SYD - AUH - SYD.

Interesting but semi useless fact (unless you like Soda Water or use it on your plants), Coles branded Soda Water is not Soda Water at all, it's the same product as their sparking water.

so - isn't it soda bicarb (or something like, those with a science degree will know) that makes soda water? if it's not, what makes their sparkling water sparkle?

Their sparkling water is just water with CO2, ie Carbonated, Soda Water is similar but as you say its done with bicarb. There is a difference in the sodium content as a result.
