I still have some Bank of New South Wales (now Westpac) stationery, my +1 has a St George red dragon money box from when they used to be a credit union. And who from NSW remembers the Rural Bank and the jingle "The Rural Bank does more for you"

And in my stationery cupboard I have lots of carbon paper..... still use it every day.

Does anyone else remember when, in order to book a domestic flight you walked into the airline office of your choice (that's TAA or Ansett) and asked for a seat (in first or economy), paid the fare (fixed price) by cash or cheque and were issued a paper ticket. If you wanted to travel more than 1 sector the CSO rang the office where the next sector originated and asked the about seat availability. No SCs, FF points, lounges or schemes. Ah, the good old days (not).

I have felt so much more liberated with the advent of the mobile phone, the laptop and the internet.

I remember being issued carbon(?) paper tickets as a child.

I remember those days well and still have ~250 paper tickets in my collection. Reminded me that my dad had an Ansett card that he would give and cost was billed in a statement the following month. Damn, I wonder what I did with that card???

Just checked my QFF account and see that my total points are exactly 1,100 shy of my QFF membership number. Now do I take a flight and fill up my car with 50 litres to get the numbers to match...

So you don't have a lot of points? I wish it was that easy to match my QFF points balance to my membership number. :p

I have some paper tickets for flights with BA in 1987. So not that long ago! :D

Got 45 minutes to waste?

The last part of "Flying High II" is on ONE at the moment.

Seen it too many times. I pack with that knowledge in mind.

It also explains why Fragile stickers are about as useless as a chocolate teapot whilst adding unnecessary time burden on the passenger.

Wasn't the packing that worried me so much. It is the way the bag is thrown on to the baggage trolley.

I'm old enough to remember the 5.25" floppies... double density ones were falling out of fashion in preference to high density. The 3.5" floppies weren't quite commonplace until I got to middle primary.

HDDs in my early years had something in the range of 40MB. Of course it was dedicated I/O controller (not even IDE), so all the HDD parameters needed to be manually specified in the CMOS.

First "very large" HDD we got needed to load a driver at boot....quite annoying. Also was the age of whole drive compression. ...with associated headaches.

All my masters files are stored on 3.5" disks, about 10 to 15 of them. Keep thinking about trying to transfer it all to cd, just to see if the files are accessible.

Let me know if you get stuck. I have some ability and contacts in ADL that may help.

I have a USB 3.5"FDD I can loan out if needed.

My neighbour has an old Tandy TRS-80 that he still uses very occasionally! It has a plotter attached which he uses for his surveying work.

The world has gone topsy turvey. I was able to get through to Rosters on the first attempt & they didn't need to wait for their Commodore 64 to fire up to tell me that my leave ends on March 29.

It's a KC-10 air to air refueller

Yes, one of only 59 the USAF have, with the unique capability of having both a boom and a drogue system. Something of a Spring chicken at 27 years old in comparison to the Kc135s, this one was in Brisbane for the second time this year, escorting some F16s in. Earlier it had escorted some RAAF F18s to Red Flag in Nevada.

I had a dream this morning that I fell and as I was falling I thought this is going to hurt. Mum said that it is not a nice dream.

A couple of hours later I get a call from hospital that results from a special blood test I did in November have just arrived and the news is not good. They want follow up blood tests. I was going tomorrow anyway.

Coincidence?
