I see ripped jean shorts are getting even shorter this year. :shock:

I need to find a way to subtly put my eyes back in their socket and not stare. At least they don't leave much to the imagination. :p
 
Just had a day trip from Osaka to Hiroshima on a Hikari and then on to Miyajima Island. Hadn't been at the sharp end before to see the drivers arrive. These guys are dressed like QF captains complete with 'wings' on their chests.

They put the new NSW rail uniforms, as described by erkpod, to shame. These guys come complete with their 'flight bags'. I suppose they have a fault manual "How to Fix your Hikari".

Not sure if they could fix it, but they do take great pride in what they do and, as you've naturally seen, their appearance and public image.

Agree absolutely, and the precision with which the whole system is run is incredible. There seemed to be a some glitches though, as a few Shinkansen services were cancelled (equipment going tech?), and one line had major delays due to 'a passenger fall' - onto the track? maybe.

Could possibly be a suicide, though they tend to jump in front of commuter trains rather than bullet trains.

If I recall correctly, the rules were changed in Japan so that the estate or family of someone who commits suicide will be financially responsible.
