The rooms at the Hotel Frankenhof in Wurzburg have phones with rotary dials. It's been years since I last saw one of those that was actually in use.

I feel the local council is going to get a blast.
Had some work on our watering system today and they found that the system in the small park outside our place is now connected to our system. It wasn't 2 years ago the fellow feels when he last changed some of our system.
Now we know why we have high water bills.

That is so naughty. Hopefully some one will 'pay' for the wrong.

My parents used to have one mounted on the kitchen wall. Thankfully they ditched it around the time girls started to become interesting.

Would I be out of order if I suggested someone deserves some prison time for this?

Although we've only got one side, I'm wondering how the council is going to frame this as an honest mistake....

Finally ACA had a decent story, a short tribute to Ian Ross by Tracey, beautiful.

I have one in my bedroom, and it worked fine until I decided to dispense with the landline. It was good to use a handset that had some weight to it. Made it a bit tricky to 'press 0 for assistance' though. :)

I miss those phones.

Those phones caused some poor guy a lot of grief. My mother had one. And every night she would dial up this poor guy's number by accident instead of mine. Finally he rang me in despair. I replaced her phone with a digital right away.

My father died of pancreatic cancer in his late sixties. It is a particularly wicked form of cancer in that it's invariably and quickly fatal. The last 3 people I know who've died have had this disease.

Considering that he has just died, your comment is completely tasteless.

Considering my comment has nothing to do with him dying I guess that this is just a case of mind over matter.

Besides if your so offended why no pick on the fact that it's not the same Tracey?

And you can't make mistakes with digital phones?

Not an issue anyway as pretty soon you will be able to talk to anyone in the collective without the use of a phone device. They call it progress. I am not so sure.

You and me both. I remember getting ready for school and the folks watched Today, and the newsreader for some time was none other than Ian Ross.

Then we also had the weatherman Monte Dwyer, main presenters Steve Liebmann and Liz Hayes, and political reporter with a well known sign off, Peter Harvey.

Ian Ross also had a brief cameo as himself on the well-known Australian movie, The Castle.

Lots of things changed at the free to air TV stations and Ian Ross was a comforting presenter who was really liked by his audience. I was saddened to hear that he had passed away.
We rarely watch free to air TV unless I want to watch some advertising.
We do watch ABC TV and more on Foxtel.
My niece watches "Can I afford it ?"on channel 652 and now asks questions about money so I can recommend you watch that one.

Oh yeah. But in this case it has something to do with the dial and slipping etc etc.

Progress - I've found that things improve until a certain stage then they make one change too many and wham - the product is useless. I've found that particularly with software. Actually, maybe if we replace progress with enhancements and then look at our beloved red roo and therein lies a tale!
