I hate ear plugs - never use them - prefer to tell those clowns to zip it - they have no right to disturb the quiet environment that lounges should be.

In my cruise trip report I was giving live commentary about the tool in the Langham Club on his mobile giving all sorts of confidential information about his company. He was so loud he commanded the attention of everyone else there (it was busy) and they too were reacting with horrified looks. He was of an age to have known better.

I think at one stage the other guy in Shanghai hung up on him. Everyone had a smile when they knew he'd been disconnected. Sadly after 5 minutes he reconnected again.

How do ear buds work when the yelling is on our end?

Oh sorry I thought you meant wearing ear plugs so you could not hear THEM - not ear phones so they can't hear YOUR audio - but then there is still the human at your end talking down the line who causes equally if not more noise.

Last (only) time we had to return to the gate, after an aborted takeoff, the fixit man arrived in the cabin with a hammer! I didn't think that would be the fix. About 10 mins later we were given the bad news that MC Hammer couldn't fix it.

Had to wait for the next service, which meant no time in the int lounge, and had to run for flight.

When was life ever not complex?

Human behaviour, society, economics, politics...All examples of complex systems that have been around forever.

Gadgets are just enablers of the above.

I think life was simple.

You would meet kids at the park. In the winter play soccer and rugby league. In the summer it was cricket.

You would get on a flight and read a book or play solitaire or knit etc.
