I disagree. ;)

Edit: I would note that in physics not possible is not possible. It certainly isn't not defined, because physically impossible is defined. I should've mentioned this was from the physics HSC examples not the mathematics test. My bad.

Double edit: I guess that's my problem I only tutored university physics not high school maths. :p

On other non-maths information, my view of this thread says it's Page 888 - lucky for some.

In maths information, I am pleased to see others participating in this thread with vigorous debate are much smarter than me and unfortunately for them, I understand naught of what they say. It goes far beyond my simple grasp of mathematics and makes my head hurt.

In other personal news, I am going home now from work - a worsening throat, coughing, sneezing and my alertness is diminishing - might be an afternoon in bed. I thank the cold weather, playing indoor beach volleyball and my children for bringing the bug into our house. Might share some couch time with my son (who is also home sick from Kindy) and watch some videos. Hot lemon and honey drinks all round :D

I will however take work home for me to do tomorrow...once I'm feeling maginally better than now.

Get better soon, QF WP! Also, I'll make sure to not walk within a 100 m exclusion zone around your place   Just kidding...

I have an appointment at PAH on a Monday in July at 2:00pm.

I have been given another appointment at 11:00am on the same day by another department. Then that same department gives me another appointment at 4:30pm.

Each appointment could take up to 2 hours or more. They must think they are doing me a favour.

I am not going waste a day waiting around in hospital.

You'd rather waste 3 days?

I don't waste 3 days. I have a ~3 hour lunch or ~3 hour breakfast and make up the time at work that week. Life in Brisbane is extremely boring at the best of times so lose nothing by staying back at work.

I was there today and changed the appointments to the week after and the week after that. They weren't too happy about it. First one said the fibre scan only takes 45 minutes but no consideration for the 1h 30m I would wait for next appointment.

And not sure why some people rush to like a post.

Since you ask....It looks like a common sense post from someone in the medical profession.

IMO, it appears it "could" be a serous issue given they've scheduled three hospital based appointments !

And not sure why people worry about likes

BTW - hope all is well.

Oh well, even if it were still Physics, I'd still answer the same if asked to name the kinds of trends. :)

One thing is for sure in high school (or even uni) Physics - if you were horrible at maths, your chances of passing Physics was remote. I'd be tempted to mark Chemistry the same way, except Chemistry had less maths in it, and a lot of it tended to be "dumbed down".

Since Biology required the least amount of maths, it is no surprise that it is easily the branch of science in high school whose classes were readily filled to capacity.

Chemists are just physicists who can't handle the maths. Strangely I did better at uni maths than physics.

Hmmm. I am fine thanks.

The first appointment is a fibre scan of the liver. The last appointment is an ultrasound of the liver. Both scheduled on the same day as another unrelated appointment.

The follow up appointment for the gastroenterologist is not for another 8 weeks. These 2 scans need to be completed before then. It makes no sense to have them on the same day 8 weeks earlier.

And talking about the follow up appointment. I am leaving for Thailand the day after which means I am leaving work early the day before which is now the day of the follow up appointment. Now I am going to have to work 11-12 hours on the Monday as I will only be 3-4 hours at work on the Tuesday before heading off. How the hell did they know I was going to Thailand and scheduling an appointment the day before?

Seems there is some conspiracy.

Maybe the doctor considered it a coup to have you as a patient? ;)

I guess <most> people prefer one trip to a hospital for a longer block in one day, than three shorter ones all close together (for many people it is quite a big deal to make one trip let alone three as it's the trip itself including driving/parking etc that's the issue.

You are eligible for sick leave (if you have any in balance) so you technically shouldn't have to work extra hours if you ask for a certificate. If you've used it all up that's a whole separate discussion.

But if you're happy with three separate trips then it's great they've changed them to your "convenience" (term used loosely!).

I am quite different.

Starts to get a little complex. I would rather the 3 short trips to hospital and make up the time. I like to leave sick leave for when I am sick or when I schedule doctors visits back in Sydney.

My East African aerial safari has just ended :( in Livingstone on the Zambian side of Victoria Falls. Here for two nights to chill then heading to JNB and onwards to PER xSYD.

Had a magnificent low-level flight up the Zambezi, over Kariba Dam and Lake Kariba before spending two nights on a houseboat on the Chobe/Zambezi Rivers flodplain in Namibia, then two nights in the Okavango Delta. Watching a leopard feed on a freshly-killed antelope from 4 metres away was a buzz.

More low-level flying over the floodplain and higher-level circuits over Vic Falls rounded out a sensational experience.

A full TR will follow in the next week or two.

It seems to me more sensible to have the scans of the liver relatively close to each other if they are wanting to compare the images/findings.

And not defined would still be wrong.

Btw when I mentioned radioactive decay, I was referring to the shape of the curve not the technicalities of end points. Of course time zero is an artificial point of reference anyway since the activity will be greater again when time is <0

I don't think so. If my liver is already damaged 1 week is not going to make any difference to the scans. And I am going to do the complex blood test next week which is ~4 weeks before the scans and they won't see my until September.

The gastroenterologist advised me to stop drinking. I said to him "You do realise why I am drinking don't you?". He just looked at me and sort of nodded. He then asked me to cut down on the drinking as much as possible.

This is all scary stuff for me and a thousand things are running through my mind. Life is certainly not easy. But a little easier for me than the English bloke who came to my reception in Chiang Mai and I met for the first time. He is the fiancee of my fiancees friend. Diagnosed with liver cancer. Chemotherapy has been delayed due to complications requiring surgery and he just checked out of hospital for a few days to go home as they cannot afford the hospital costs in Thailand.
