I don't think so. If my liver is already damaged 1 week is not going to make any difference to the scans. And I am going to do the complex blood test next week which is ~4 weeks before the scans and they won't see my until September.
The gastroenterologist advised me to stop drinking. I said to him "You do realise why I am drinking don't you?". He just looked at me and sort of nodded. He then asked me to cut down on the drinking as much as possible.
This is all scary stuff for me and a thousand things are running through my mind. Life is certainly not easy. But a little easier for me than the English bloke who came to my reception in Chiang Mai and I met for the first time. He is the fiancee of my fiancees friend. Diagnosed with liver cancer. Chemotherapy has been delayed due to complications requiring surgery and he just checked out of hospital for a few days to go home as they cannot afford the hospital costs in Thailand.
Any cancer sucks. But hopefully if they thought cancer they'd just do a PET scan.
Apologies to the doctors on AFF but this is the public health system. Why do today that which you can do next month?
They had a concern with my liver over 3 months ago. Saw me last month and now I have to wait another 3 months. I don't mind wasting my time waiting but hope there is nothing seriously wrong.

Exactly - but it is the public system and they are unlikely to do that until after the liver biopsy.
Was the best scan I ever had - but the most expensive out of pocket I've ever experienced. Worth every cent though![]()
If I'm really sick, I want to be treated in a public hospital.
I have top level private cover but I expect that it will be of little benefit to me in the event of a sudden life threat.
It will however get me a whole raft of elective and semi-urgent procedures and investigations done and for that I am grateful.
Best wishes JohnK

Exactly so!Ok, as a lowly public hospital doc I'll weigh in here.

But you're not waiting 3 months. You're having the scan this week. In fact all 3 scans this week if you wanted. If those scans show anything serious then you'll get a call much sooner than 3 months.
I asked a religous door knocker whether they would like to join my religion and since I was planning to sacrifice a Virgin that evening, they were welcome to come along...I asked a Salvation Army collector if they saved wicked women. And could they please save one for me.
