The totally off-topic thread

I asked a religous door knocker whether they would like to join my religion and since I was planning to sacrifice a Virgin that evening, they were welcome to come along...
I was waiting for something from Australia Post once and so I jumped out of the shower and rushed downstairs to answer the door wearing a towel.
Unfortunately it wasn't the postie but a couple of elderly Jehovah's witnesses  Funnily enough they said they could see that I was busy and they would call back later :p

I would pay to see that !!

Ok, as a lowly public hospital doc I'll weigh in here.
If I'm really sick, I want to be treated in a public hospital.
I have top level private cover but I expect that it will be of little benefit to me in the event of a sudden life threat.
It will however get me a whole raft of elective and semi-urgent procedures and investigations done and for that I am grateful.
Best wishes JohnK

I work across both systems and agree with the princess. Private often doesn't do the really really sick very well

Watching a leopard feed on a freshly killed antelope?? Sounds like a slightly better offering than the Qantas lounge on a friday arvo:lol:

Went out for dinner last night and ordered an entree, which was a braise of rabbit with sliced Italian sausage, lentils and some other things.

A very hearty starter worthy of the winter menu, which tasted quite nice. Except for one thing, I thought.

What happened to the rabbit?

The rabbit appeared to have been shredded and mixed in with the lentils. Although it did lend some flavour to the lentils overall, I felt that the whole point of the taste and texture of the rabbit had been lost. You could have maybe substituted in chicken for the rabbit and it might have been just as good (provided you didn't overcook the chicken so its shreds become like eating butchers string).

I don't normally eat a lot of rabbit, but the times I have I think delicate flavour and succulent texture. It also overcooks very easily.

I know there are people here who enjoy eating rabbit; what's your take on this meat?

I have only eaten Rabbit once. I think it wasn't prepared that well (home cooked) but the memory was of a gamey taste.

Last day in Scotland and our car was targeted by the Royal Aberdeen Seagull squadron.I don't think the Avis lady was very pleased.Went over the car meticulously trying to find an extra scratch on it.Thats when I showed her the revised car condition report and added-I also took photos when I picked the car up.
That stopped the carry on.

Have heard the most ridiculous blame the English reason to vote for Scottish Independence.
The SNP are up in arms because on average Scots get 1000GBP less over their lifetime of government pension. The reason is they have a lower life expectancy.
The fact that to fry and egg you put them into a frying pan with at least an inch of oil in plus you then get your toast, put a 1/4 inch of butter on it and then you get the salt shaker and vigorously add a layer of salt to the butter might just be more to blame than the English.

One of my Glaswegian friends told the story of arriving back home after a hol in Italy, and thought that a pizza may just hit the spot. Slipped down to the local takeaway. 'Not a problem' said the proprietor, and deftly slid a frozen pizza into the deep fryer! (apologies to PF)

Does it mean you're divorced (or going to be) when your (possibly ex) wife defriends you on Facebook?

That probably takes the cake from the girl who broke up with me via SMS.

This is actually a highly accurate description of the average Glesga chippie :D

I thought perhaps we should start this thread, given the discussion over in My Questions about how we have taken the thread about Forum Software totally off topic.

So here in this thread, you can discuss anything that off-topic (as that's the name of the thread, thus whatever is discussed must actually be on-topic). How about that, never being able to go off-topic and haranged by a Moderator  .

So, it doesn't matter whether you want to talk about avatars, my locked 10K post thread, HP's, buses, whatever...it's all for the posting.

Begin my fellow AFF'ers..it will be interesting to see how this thread grows and evolves...it may be more like a chat room. Can we break the thread page counts and post count???

HP's ... well that is but a distant memory now!

Out of interest, what are Qantas serving in the J lounges domestically these days? I thought HP was dropped.

Last I was in the lounge I think they were serving James Boags. There's another beer on tap (as well as a couple of others served in bottle) but save me to remember it....

Stay away from Facebook and gadgets.
