Enjoy - and have series 2 at the ready.
I have series 1, 2 and 3 - Started watching in June on flights. My rule is only on flights (although I do need to be discrete with screen angles at times).

Anyhoo, up to 3.1 ... but I don't envisage further watching for some months.

Ditto.

Its an interesting situation where the author of the book has not completed the books, while production of the TV series continues. You have to wonder if, to any degree, the future books are going to be influenced by what has been been depicted in the tv series - which doesn't necessarily follow the narrative in the books.

The author is apparently recalcitrant when it comes to the books, doing things like killing off characters that te fans like and delaying writing if fans get to demanding for more books. I imagine him being influenced by the tv series, which I told is still in book one or two. I'm more worried he'll die before finishing the books.

For people who wear glasses...

I can understand that glasses are necessary for certain activities that require improved sight, e.g. reading, driving, etc...however, what is the explanation for mannerisms related to removing and putting back on glasses?

In some cases it is very predictable: people use their glasses to read something and then promptly remove them (holding them in their hand) as they start talking and reading is not necessary at that moment. So you see a pattern of glasses on and glasses off, corresponding to when one reads their notes or a passage and when they address others. In other cases, it seems people remove their glasses to look less threatening (e.g. when saying hello to children); in even other cases, people seem to remove their glasses when they are about to express something rather stressful, or with exasperation or rage.

I require glasses or contacts to see. So if I'm wearing my glasses, the only reason I take them off is to readjust them on my face...

I often have the opposite problem. I have multi-focals, wear them most of the time, and often forget they are on. Very embarrassing leaping in the shower or sliding into bed only to find they are still in place on my face.

Nervousness?

I have been wearing glasses ~3 years and they still make me uncomfortable.

I have a long distance script that are multi-focal so I can also read with them and I have a script to use with the computer screen and are multi focal as well for reading but this script is very strong and I struggle to see more than a few metres away. If I am looking at a computer screen then talk to someone then I need to take the glasses off. As time goes on I use the long distance more and more to give my eyes a rest.

And sometimes I just like to take the glasses off and fidget with them in my hands.

The GOT author paid no heed to fans of the TV series when writing the first two or three books as they were first written in 1991 and published in 1996. From someone who has read all the books (not me) she says that there are probably two more TV series left before the new books currently being written, come into play.

I have had glasses since I was 17.multifocals for a few years. No problems. They are on all the time except playing golf. For some reason with the multifocals I just cant get the position of the ball right when hitting the ball so rely on an old pair of just distance glasses.

Ah. make sure the kiddies are not around.

I watched all four series in the space of a month - just finished Series four Wednesday. Off to Dubrovnik tomorrow (via Venice) so had to see the series so I could pick out location shots. They are currently filming series 5 there, and Spain and Ireland.

I'm also reading the books which are surprisingly easy to read.

I'm reading the books too (still on book 1). I found it quite difficult to read until I watched the series. There are a lot of superfluous non characters named in the book which for me, made it difficult to follow who was who. The series put everything in order though.

Believe it or not we are just about to watch Series 1 Episode 1
Late adopters we are :D
Haven't watched a single one...

and the only glasses I wear are sunnies, though I'm surrounded by people with contacts/glasses so I understand most of the issues. I'm pretty good at finding escaped contact lenses.

Good news and bad in the Buzzard household last night, but lets focus on the good.

Our second (and we expect last) granddaughter Alice Emily was born at 6.30pm. :) :p :) :p
I'm told dad's doing fine.

Technologhy amazes me sometimes - I think it was about 1.5 hours later that the first photo was already on FB!

I've got four eyes. I only remove them when I have to read - resisting the bifocal look.

I also have prescription sunnies. In some cases I'll explain that my sunnies are prescription and that's why I haven't taken them off. Have been caught out big time wearing the sunnies and leaving the glasses at home. Quite a few sporting events where I stupidly thought I'd be home during daylight hours only to end up in a bar at 2am wearing sunnies

Having to carry two glasses is a PITA! For some reason (pure laziness) I haven't bothered with laser or contacts

Many thanks TomVexille

For that reason I have several pairs of glasses with transition lenses.

July 2014 Qantas MASA status credits have posted at zero for four of our July flights. The same thing for our office staff. Does Qantas have a problem?

Not very "express"... It's only 13kms...

(and that's a business address, not my house)

Damn that's very poor.

I love (not) how their "guarantee" involves your receiving another Express Post packaging free of charge if the express postage commitment is not met. Almost as useless as USA airline bump vouchers for someone who doesn't frequent the USA.

Indeed. I'm short sighted. So I can't read with glasses on and get a headache if I try, because it's all blurry through the glasses. But need them to see anything long distance. No doubt many people who read with glasses have to remove them to be able to see when looking up, or when looking at people up close.

I feel for you as I'm like you. Its most annoying, as without glasses, everything is blurred, at any distance. So I'm resigned to the fact that i just have to wear glasses if I want to see clearly.

You still have to ask?

Edit: actually perhaps this is part of the adjustment process.
