The totally off-topic thread

I only just turned 50! Still a baby. ;)

Colonoscopy doesn't bother me. Need to schedule one when I am back in Sydney butotoo difficult to plan in advance especially those clinics that only do Colonoscopies on a Thursday.

That reminds me. I have recently received a letter from Bowel screen? Do they do the same thing.

bowel screen is just a screening test - if positive you need a colonoscopy. i'm surprised this thread hasn't become the butt of alot of off colour jokes..you know, we'll get to the bottom of the problem etc

Having someone describe the brachy process for prostate cancer, I've decided to not fight it. Anything that involves the use of stirrups is not for me. It's certainly vastly worse than the check, but then having the check means the therapy might be needed.

Some laws make no sense whatsoever.

If you are reversing out of a car spot in a car park and someone comes out of nowhere and hits your left rear bumper with their rear passenger door then it's your fault because you were reversing. Your fault even though the other person was negligent. When is it safe to reverse? Never because anyone can run into you intentionally and they are not at fault.

Assume that your wife is standing on the left side of the rear bumper watching out for any cars and that person knocks over your wife then hits your car. Is that person negligent now?

The first part is what happened to my parents in Friday. Dad was reversing and mum was looking out. Stopped and waited for 5 cars to pass and then slowly reversed another foot or two. This person came out of nowhere and hit my car. Almost collected mum as well. Mum is still in shock.

When she came out of car she said she never saw our car. If she didn't see the car she didn't see mum either. Sad. Now she says she was stationary and dad reversed into her. The damage on my car is not from dad reversing into another car but a glancing blow at speed from another car. She has no insurance. There is a witness but according to mum and dad he was there before the incident watching what mum and dad were doing and immediately ran over saying it is your fault. She called police but they weren't interested.

I have advised my insurance but have not lodged a claim as my car doesn't need repairing as the bumper is being replaced from another incident where a car rolled into back of my car at golf car park. Insurance says dad is at fault.

We suspect fraud. Dad noticed old damage on her car. So it is OK for people to lie to get their way?
Perhaps my suspicion of fraud was spot on. Should I assume that all is OK after 2 months of no contact or would I still expect to hear from their solicitors/lawyers?

Congratulations Michael Rogers-stage winner at Le Tour.
Nibali still looking the goods as eventual winner.

Do they know who your insurance company is? if so they may have already approached them and finalised the matter.

I think I told them but I would have known by now with a please explain and request for the excess.

As mentioned I detected fraud with how my parents described the story and their arrival at my parents place a few hours later.

I am hoping I don't have to hear any more from them.

Somewhat ironic that the Comm games uniforms which copped flack for being crotch focused are now copping flack for not having a map of tassie on them as part of the Australia image.

Has anyone had any experience with tech from Kogan? Specifically I am looking at a 256Gb memory stick for $175. Thoughts?

Not a statement about Kogan, but except in select circumstances, I can't bring myself to pay that much for the capacity as stated, even if it is a memory stick.

With memory sticks a dime a dozen these days (in terms of technological advancement), except for physical form factor you would like to think there isn't a marked difference between the various manufacturers.

Everything old is new again. Brisbane Commonwealth games opening ceremony map of Australia that clearly had Tasmania joined to the main land.

you be the judge: r1011503_11392841.jpg

Hope that works

I've bought a couple of items from Kogan. I had an issue where my money was taken, but the order was lost 'in the system'. Their service recovery was good.

Slipping down memory lane about 20 years ago I bought a 4MB stick of ram for ~$120

Have you seen the Scottish team's uniform?

It's perhaps a slight improvement on the uniform for the KL games in '98 :p

Prices are over $200 for a brand name, and I need the capacity for my iTunes library when travelling.

Only a few more nights of soft pasteurized cheese. And some beautiful mountains tonight.
