It behooves me to think how inconsiderate you must be if you are wanting to use a lavatory in a public restroom only to find that the toilet seat has been completely urinated on. (Of course, I am referring to the male facilities, unless females have somehow developed a new method).

Apart from being rude and lazy, it's not a really good statement about the spatial abilities of men.

I close the lid so the seat up or down business is somewhat irrelevant.

In some countries or cultures (not necessarily "backwards" ones, mind you!), even men are strongly encouraged to urinate sitting down rather than standing up.

Public toilets include aircraft lavs (for those who didn't realise).

Interesting comment on Ninemsn comments of all places.

"Racism is never one sided but only white people are condemned for it."

Personally I think the comment is spot on.

The comment is wrong. White people are only condemned for racism in societies where they hold all the power. It is fair and right to condemn in that situation. In other societies where the power structure is reversed then it is not the white victims of racism that would be condemned. Frankly that comment is weak minded rubbish that panders to the redneck underbelly of australia.

But if you want to defend this kind of rubbish, keep going. Two charged over racist rant on Brisbane train

So, we have 3 toilets, 1 in en-suite, 1 in it's own room next to kids bathroom, (new suite installed last Thursday :) )
and then this.........

Walls came down during a storm..... must get around to rebuilding... (plans are for a Tardis style exterior)

It was just a comment I read. Don't condemn me.

I already know that people in a lot of countries are more racist than what people are accusing Australians of doing. I have witnessed it overseas. I have witnessed it here. In fact I witnessed it at work last week and I was quite shocked that people just accept it.

Next time we have a drink remind me to tell you some stories.

After a rather insane weekend bender, I got some good feedback at work today... Unfortunately they aren't paying me any more :(

Ouch, that doesn't sound good :!:

It is very bitter-sweet. The feedback was really good, but some kind of tangible recognition would have been nice to accompany the positive words.

As for the bender, I am old enough to know better, but young enough to still be silly sometimes :p

Hope you've recovered or at least had the hair of the dog :p

In my own apartment the lid stays down for the flush and then comes back up again when I remember in the next few minutes. I do not close the lid for the hygienic reasons outlined earlier but just a habit I have picked up since coming to Brisbane. I am not going to bend down and lift seat and lid everytime I want to go to toilet and then close the lid again.

If I see a public toilet with lid down then I try to avoid these like the plague. I do not want to see any nasty surprises.

To make women feel better? Spare me some dignity please.

Nope. It's perceived as more hygienic. After all, in almost every country there are still several separate male and female public restrooms.

I think in some environments it has also been an effort to mitigate the floor smelling like urine.

Funny how things can change, you think you could be doing something like flying at stupid hours to get more work done for your boss.

There is a question I could ask her but I leave it for now, just don't over do it.

I hope it all works out for the best.

We have separate bathrooms at home, always have.

It's a Perth thing... Over in the UK and most eastern states of Australia people I know have a dunny in the bathroom. Perth has space so why not keep them separate!

Women ones aren't much better either from what I hear. It perplexes me too.

Another update on my friend whose trying to arrange for her son to meet Johnny Depp. Someone in the US, who also has a child with the same condition, saw the page. As a result a university professor in the US has offered to review the case. That's pretty good considering Australian doctors had reach the nothing can be done point.

That's great news :)
