I'm sure many will be happy to know that my last update is from the presentation of the effects of mobile phones on sleep. The only interesting random factor is that 9% of people surveyed would give up horizontal folk dancing in preference to using their phone. There are some sick people out there.

Horizontal folk dancing what is that; at least with a mobile phone I can choose my own model and plan.

Hmmm.

I was in Melbourne on the weekend and at ~6:00pm the sun is ~3/4 of the way up. Sydney at ~6:00pm the sun is ~5/8 of the up.

And I come to Brisbane at ~6:00pm and it is dark.

Enough of the silly excuses for not having daylight saving.

Enough of the utter lies. According to google the sunrises in Brisbane at 5 am. Once again you're just making it up. Is this another example of your opinion being more valid that the truth?

Correct medhead,

Let's not let the truth get in the way of a good story :!:

Todays sunrise and sunset times

Brisbane:

Sunset: 1803
13 hrs and 3 min of daylight.

Melbourne:

Maybe they should sell hats, sunscreen and long sleeve shirts in QLD? Then they could run an education campaign to get the people to wear said items.

Surely, if you live in a sunny area you should have a modicum of common sense to take care of yourself?

+ 1 ......... however, you left out shoes!

The hours of sunlight does not correspond to the amount of UV radiation.
Other factors include skin pigmentation. The rate of melanoma in Indigenous Australians is 70% lower than whites.Singapore,Thailand and Malaysia mentioned previously all have different pigmentation to whites.
Genetics also plays a role.
Though MS is more prevalent in colder climates.Swings and roundabouts.

And considering that QLD is the retirement home for Australia, an older population is more likely to develop skin cancer than a younger pop'n. FWIW, NT and WA have a younger pop'n than QLD.

Over the last few months, I've been following the CEO's weekly blog posts on the intranet & an Ask The GM section of my GM.

I've actually had an answer from the CEO & several from my GM about various issues. I've just sent an email from one of my personal email addresses to the GM to expand on one of the issues.

If this ends up working the way it could, I might have started the ball rolling on making things better for around 3000 staff & anyone who catches a train in Sydney.

Stay tuned.

Which doesn't actually explain the number I reported. Skin cancer is related to time after exposure, which is not the same thing as age. Interstate retirees will start at the same incidence rate of the non-QLD state. This will tend to reduce the incidence rate in Queensland not increase it.

Overall skin cancer incidence of 1000 in 100,000 - 1% double other states.
Retiree's from other states with a 0.5% incidence. That brings down the overall queensland incidence. So People who have lived in Queensland all there lives have higher that 1% incidence of skin cancer. Basically retirees don't actually help your opinion.

Greetings to friends and apologies to Clifford.
As friends know, I generally also inhabit another site which we might call FT so to say.
So , visiting a Celestial Kingdom in recent days, and accessing AFF via a VPN I have no problems following Sam's wonderful news, for example. (And many other pearls from Mr C's domain).
But every attempt to download pm's or look at pages from FT delivers a frozen screen for days and days.
Some friends consider me technologically B+ so I am respectfully wondering if this is just me, or is that other travel website, such a den of Splittist's that it must be great fire walled.
Thanks kindly. John.

Yes, my son rose soon thereafter as he was too excited to sleep. Seems there were lots of presents he could finally open. I was playing Transformers at 5:30 (at least I managed a bit of extra sleep).

Happy birthday mini #2. 5 going on 25

Could be one of a number of things. Most likely, the VPN you are using doesn't like FT for whatever reason. Enjoy your time in the Celestial Kingdom!
