Still no offical notice from work, despite bumping into HR today. I shouldn't be surprised...

Is it an end of contract or end of employment? Might be a difference? Didn't this happen last year too?

this is end of employment. Notice was due last Monday, others got theirs but I've been missed. Last year there was a gap between contracts because they were so slow.

And you know you are definitely having to go?

My boss told me yesterday that's wont be employed for next year, and has asked me to hand over all relevant files...

mmm, usually the letter would come with the talk. I would get a reference letter first, and then plan next action later.

I guess you know this from FWA:

[h=2]Notice of termination[/h]An employer must not terminate an employee’s employment (subject to the exceptions set out below) unless they have given the employee written notice of the day of the termination.
An employer may give notice to the employee by:

  • delivering it personally, or
  • leaving it at the employee’s last known address, or
  • sending it by pre-paid post to the employee’s last known address.

Yes, I've seen that. I will chase the reference on Thursday but I'm happy yo let them dawdle on the notice. Someone else in my group resigned yesterday so that'll be interesting...

This really has been your Annus Horribilis.
All the best for the future and hoping this will eventually lead to a much better place for you.

Just be careful in case they try to pull the 'well we posted it and you just haven't received it - blame Australia post' card..

QF WP, yes - one of those days! Happens every now and then :)

Just booked my first Fifth Freedom flight...

BKK-CAN on Kenya Airways...

It's all done via email...

Oh well that's a little better then! Wonder if they'll try to spoof email headers or say it maybe went to junk, etc... time will tell. Can you tell I'm a pessimist? :)
I appreciate the concern. :D

Fortnately paperwork also needs to go to two other people to finalise my departure, and neither of them have seen anything either (in fact, I broke the news to them, rather than the other way around).

Nothing at all wrong with KQ. All the birds I've flown on in Africa have been quite new, staff were good and they have at least one B787 in the fleet IIRC.

Spotted in Woolworths last week: $16,000.00/Kg for sunscreen? No wonder our skin cancer rates are atrocious.
