Wow that is the height of ignorance and extremely selfish in an open plan workplace. I've been known to join in some of these conversations with choice lines such, 'no I don't have any more toilet paper over here', or 'are you going to wash your hands after using the toilet?'

Crude but generally effective.

Depends on how you interpret JohnK's comment. Hands free could mean using the phone's headphones (which I tend to be doing all day as I spend a lot of time on conf calls) or it could be speaker phone ...

Bangkok Airport television series. Has anybody seen this BBC series yet? Given that some of us here travel there fairly frequently it will be interesting to see what our British cousins think of the place.

BBC Three - Bangkok Airport
Bangkok Airport is on BBC Three on 22 January | Richard Barrow in Thailand

Yes, was flicking through channels and managed to catch it from the start. Quite interesting, but gee there are some really silly people.

What a lovely weekend in Brisbane.

Went to Karana Downs yesterday to have a game of golf as you would. You don't realise just how weird Brisbane is as a city until you drive around the place. I drove <10km from Milton yesterday and I was at Kenmore. Rural area. You soon realise the majority of Brisbane is concentrated around Brisbane River.

Teed off with a couple of 23 year olds. Enjoyable game and had a couple of beers after the game. One of them is from Malben and has been up here for ~18 months. Very good golfer too and used to be a member at Northern down South. The other kid was a local and he showed my a photo of the 2011 flood and almost every hole was under water. Some townhouses in the middle of the course were lucky not to be under. When you see where the townhouses and where the river is it is very hard to believe the water can be that high. They have put up some houses on the other side of the river that are not far from the water line of 2011. I just wouldn't risk it. Not worth it.

Since I was out that way I drove to Moggill ferry for a few minutes. Up until a few years ago I had no idea about Moggill Ferry. Nice area and I was fascinated driving back from Moggill that I could see the city. Stopped to take a photo or 2 and this lady taking out the garbage came down to talk to me. She is originally from Malben as well and has been up here ~1 year. I didn't realise but I had parked in front of a derelict house and she thought I was the owner. Had a nice chat with her for 5-10 minutes. I didn't realise but Moggill is part of Brisbane City Council. That's a huge area for the council to cover.

Today drove down to play Logan City Golf course with a colleague from the office. Lovely day. On the way back to the city I wanted to drive via Beaudesert Road as I had never been that way. Glad I did.

I forgot to mention in my TR that never was a little earlier that I had the AFF (un)official spread of choice for the first time.

Very nice.

Apologies. Desk phone on speaker.

And his mobile phone is not much better as I can hear what his wife from 4-5 metres away.

I have been told I was born in the year of the Rooster ???

  1. The Rooster is tenth in the Chinese zodiac. Eachyear is related to an animal sign according to a 12-year cycle. Years of the Rooster include 1921, 1933, 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005, 2017, and 2029.

The Rooster sounds much better than the year of the Chook

/off to look out window for aeronautical swine....../

*the interview was not status matched from another interview.

Brisbane council is one of the largest municipalities in the world. At one stage the council budget was bigger than tasmania's budget. ;)

I think it's one of the largest, if not THE largest city in the world, isn't it? Not that surprising re budget: Greater BNE population abt 2.2 million, and rising. Population of Tasmania, abt 0.5 million and falling. I dare say BNE's budget is spent more productively than Tasmania's.

There are lots of things to enjoy in Brisbane.

I don't agree with the lifestyle. i.e. Most things shut way too early.

Mt Isa tends to claim the largest city title, based on geographic area. I guess it depends on the attribute being compared.

Interesting experiences with a couple of our larger companies.
First was Telstra.I arrived home on Saturday night sans mobile phone.Last remember turning it on when taxiing to the gate in BNE.Because it may have been left on the plane mrsdrron got Telsta to put a block on it.This morning our limo driver arrives at the door with said phone.obviously slipped out of my pocket. And guess what-I can use it normally to make and receive calls.

Next Suncorp. As soon as my phone is turned on an SMS from Suncorp re unpaid bill. However had not received a bill.Ring up and the guy said it had been posted out.Asked where to and he gave a Post Box that we closed 13 years ago.I had copies of bills for the previous 6 years all sent to our proper postal address.Who says computers are great?
