Unusual day leaving WA on Saturday.
First security at GET.Confiscated my AA batteries.I take one for my mouse with a spare.Kept in separate compartments.Literally have been through hundreds of security screenings with them but this is the first time even a comment has been raised.
Second at PER.Arrived at the gate just as they opened the door to the aerobridge so walked to the priority queue and second in line. One agent says do we have any wheelchair people.Yes.One who is then called.A woman probably a few years younger than me walks up to the desk.Do you need a wheelchair?I think I will be alright to walk. They still let her preboard.Being a mean B I would have sent her to the end of the line.

I wouldn't have thought it would be possible to find a mean bone in your body drron!

So who remembers these haircuts?

I reckon if you do remember them then you probably don't have any hair now. ;)

Not enough left to produce one of those styles with, but a few strands left. I even remember the pointy toe shoes and stove pipe trousers that went with them!

Hmmmmm - I thought a few of those models looked a touch... er, feminine... . and it struck me that same poster could be hung in a LGT-centric hairdresser today

Confiscation of the batteries is a problem. Like you I keep batteries individually isolated (in old 35mm film containers - no risk of shorting and fire). We are told not to pack in checked luggage, so in carry-on. Now being confiscated. OK losing a couple of AA batteries is an inconvenience, but losing a couple of camera batteries if they were taken, at around $65 each, is more than inconvenience. Its inconsistent too. How will they go about removing batteries from iPads or some laptops - my Toshiba Ultrabook is sealed internally.

Phone rings at 11:15pm (That's 23:15)... Why do I live in Australia? such an inconvenient location and time zone.

That's quiet common for me. And sometimes even later. But it's usually mum enquiring if I am having trouble finding the house again. ;)

Yes I know not relevant to your statement but I still think it's funny.

So your mother is very subtle....?

I am glad I am not the only that thinks this is totally creepy.

Samsung Smart TVs 'eavesdrop'

9News said:
Technology giant Samsung has warned customers against discussing personal or sensitive information in front of its voice-activated televisions.

The privacy policy for the company's Smart TV sets advises users of the voice recognition feature that their spoken words will be "among the data captured and transmitted to a third party".

Privacy campaigners have branded the policy "outrageous" and made comparisons to George Orwell's description of telescreens, which spied on citizens in his novel 1984.

Also states that you can simply change a setting-please don't say you shouldn't have to!:)
No need.

Just the thought of developing a TV capable of spying and invading your privacy sends chills up my spine.

To me George Orwell's 1984 was a precursor to our own reality. Where did society go wrong? Feel free to disagree.

Life can be good when you you set out to enjoy it and don't go looking for things to go wrong. I guess that would mean less things to post about though.

Talking of bed bugs, as was the program I saw briefly on television last night, I was reminded of the old fashioned way of catching them before the dangerous chemicals were invented. The idea was to get a very damp cake of soap and press it onto the bugs so that they stick to the soap. Fortunately, I have never had to try it out. Any one found the horrible things in hotels beds?
