Ha ha, yes the Antarctic vortex has plunged temperatures to 17 degrees in Brisbane albeit with a chilly breeze. Everything is relative I guess. A relative lives in Canada and the Arctic vortexes bring 10 foot snow drifts.
Chilly breeze is not how I would describe the howling gale this morning but I guess it is all relative.

It has been cold in Adelaide but nothing like the forecasts predicted. Now they are resorting to using windchill as a means to worry people, when the actual temperature (10C) is not too bad for mid winter. They have never used windchill in Adelaide before but they need to keep worrying and stressing us so this is another technique to add to the armory.

Pftt no wind and really not that cold..... If we get under 5 degrees.. Then mother nature might get my attention!

Windchill is a big factor. Some people can feel small changes in temperature and it affects them.

Drafts are another factor that is underestimated. I feel comfortable at 23 degrees. Throw in a draft especially one that bounces off a window or wall and I am freezing. I hate sitting in uncontrolled air conditioning. Having stiff sides, back and neck for days/weeks/months is not my idea of fun.

Sure, but it has never been used before in Adelaide. It is really important in places like Canberra. Here? Not so. They wanted to dramatise this latest weather pattern (aka Winter) and the temps, while low, were not of the scale they forecasted. Easy, let's change the definition of temperature to suit the hype.

Big occasion! For the first time ever, all the amaroos can sit in an exit row :D 2/4 BA flights (LIN-xLHR-BGO ... OSL-xLHR-ORY) booked last night offered exit row seating - youngest child is 12. Not sure why the other two flights weren't offered as they appeared to be open .. all flights are A319.

The two other amazing things; the four flights only cost €1,111 for the four of us, and I'll earn a massive 555 QFFP and 35 SC as WP  Lucky I don't need SC this membership year lol

Is this BA ?
I noticed a new "enhancement" with the BA booking site last week whilst booking a couple of UK domestics. Used to be able to input your QFF number and the booking engine recognized OWE status and free seat selection. Now they try to charge you £7 as part of the booking process with the fine print at the side saying it's free for status passengers. You actually have to ignore the seat selection completely and go back into the booking once purchased to select seats FOC. Thought that was a bit sneaky and may catch out the unwary

 Yes, all BA flights. I also noticed the seating charges popping up prior to finalising the booking .. in my case the fee was 2 flights @ £12 and 2 @ £24 per passenger per seat  All up the fee would've been £288 to select seats - can you imagine someone paying that! I ignored the popup screen, completed the booking and went straight to MMB and allocated for free:D

Think I've worked out why I could only select 2/4 exit rows. It appears the two flights I could select are ex-BMI birds and row 10 is the exit ... the other two have row 9 as the exit. Apparently they'll open up a few days prior to departure once they decide where to place the curtain for the J cabin.

Yes, and on one of the days this weekend the temperature made the forecast 13, which is a reasonable temperature. But with wind chill it was 3 degrees, which is entirely unreasonable. It is so cold that I've have now added track pants to my usual t-shirt, shorts and thongs attire. Had to do that after picking up SWMBO with the shopping yesterday. Just from the walk into the supermarket, and then loading the shopping I had those all over stabbing pains when heating up when back in the car.

While you were thinking cold thoughts I took my bike for a good ride around the Canning River in Perth on Sunday....lovely blue sky and very little breeze for the 80 minute ride.
I did get passed by a 75 year old gent and it took me a minute to figure that his bike was electric so he was barely pedalling.

Don't worry, it happens for us BA card holders sometimes too..........

I can finally report in from my first day of part time work. I'm working Mon-Thurs for the next 6 months at least.

It only took around 6 months of paperwork & discussion to get to this point.

Australia was favoured to win the current Ashes series 5-0.

There is a reason 99.9% of gamblers lose in the long run.

As the refrain goes - 4:1 4:1, 4:1 4:1, 4:1 4:1, 4:1!

ps: bought QAN at 0.98 and sold at 3.35. Better than my super has done.
