Re: Who says share markets ALWAYS make money over long time periods?

Oh JohnK, you know many of us here think golf is boring too and since when did you listen to us?
No. I have done both and I know which I prefer doing the most.

Shopping is boring. Of that I have no doubt. The only people who think golf is boring are those that have no idea how to play the game.

Hey that looks like my post.

Hahaha. Now I cannot win any argument. I am good at both golf and shopping and still think shopping is boring. Now please repeat that one?

And if Pushka is good at golf? She would still be entitled to her opinion that golf is boring. You state your opinion as a fact that everyone should agree with.

At least with shopping, you usually have something to show for it afterwards.
True. Same with golf.

By the way there is no right or wrong. Most people I know think shopping is boring. They would rather be doing other things. I guess you need to have a passion for something and that passion for me is golf. Hoping to play 8 games in next 12 days and I will also be doing some shopping but I know which I would rather be doing.

.... but they BUY the golf clubs, bag shoes, balls, clothes SOMEWHERE don't they?

Actually, come to think of it - some of the outfits I've seen may have come from op-shops....

Just saying...

No sadly not good at it. MrP had a handicap of 9 until he broke his elbow. I lost my interest when he was told to tell me not to be on the golf course by an officious golf official when MrP was playing a few holes by himself. The officious official said women were not allowed on the course at that time. Looked around and there were other said women doing exactly what I was and they were not approached. They were wives of the committee.

Mind you, when MrP was playing in a major cricket final a group of us wives (wags? :p) were standing in the members area of Adelaide Oval. A woman turned around and said "what are these women (ie non members) doing here?" Jane Inverarity (John Inverarity's wife) looked at her and told her, well, lets say she didn't squeak another word. And then had the temerity to congratulate us when the guys won.

JohnK is a funny guy and easy to stir.

And knows he is easy to stir and plays along for the fun of it? ;)

Although ask me again in a week if life is going to be so funny....

John Inverarity was my maths teacher. Nice guy.

I need a drink......... printed out NAB transactions for past 3 weeks to do a check. On print out shows 26 Aug Hooroo Pty Ltd $131.00 WTF??
I have not booked Qantas accommodation since 5th Aug which was for $131.00.

Go back into on-line banking, charge of $131.00 shows as the 6th August. So Why have I been charged again on the 26th.
Call Hooroo, last charge was on the 6th according to their system.

Scroll back up to 26th August - No charge of $131.00 showing on screen YET I have a hard copy printed less than a hour earlier showing the charge.

You sure you didn't pre-empt that drink. :p

NAB does some weird transactions sometimes.

Facebook has this day in history, nothing important for 2 September in my life time; according to Facebook anyway.

Although 70 years ago was the official end of World War 2.

On 15 August 1945, Japan surrendered, with the surrender documents finally signed aboard the deck of the American battleship USS Missouri on 2 September 1945, ending the war 2, more from wiki.

I'm sure SWMBO POW Grandfather (no longer with us) would see things a little different! Nice post Bundy Bear

Bloody Beautiful Day!

Re: Who says share markets ALWAYS make money over long time periods?

I've just learnt I play military golf-left,right,left,right......

That's your opinion and it couldn't be further from the truth.

I am passionate about my opinion but admit it when I am wrong (which is quite often) unlike some people who are never wrong. I had conceded the argument to pushka! No need for you to jump in.

Oi. JohnK. Be nice to Tom. He's just looking after me. Which, with some of the 'personalities' on here is rather refreshing.
