The meanings of words are never fixed; English is a living language. I'd suggest there are accepted customs and norms, but dictionaries reflect usage, not 'fact'.

I didnt say the dictionary was fact, just "some things" :p

The definition is probably more "common usage" than fact, and it would be commonly accepted that internet forums are a form of social media. Not opinion, just reality.

I'm certainly following the discussion, that's why I participated in it. You can agree or disagree with what you like. You cannot change a fact ie. AFF is a form of social media, if you participate here you "do social media".
I don't do social media. That is what I will answer when asked. Right or wrong that's all that matters.

Fair enough, you can answer what you like.
I think what you really don't do is Social Networking but we can agree to disagree on that one.

If anyone's interested, here's a quick guide from the Australian Government Communications department on the use of Social Media for Marketing, including the use of Internet Forums.
Which QF do quite well here of course thanks to the presence of Red Roo ;)

That's about the same level as refusing to name the "prime minister" of Australia, because I patently refuse to recognise whoever that person is as a human being and of any rightful person to lead this otherwise fine country.

You are always a laugh JohnK. And very social too. :D

You are always quick to welcome new members and congratulate people on milestones (post count and airline status) but you dont consider you are social.

Gotta love simplicity. I sent a detailed email requesting that we participate in some project work.

Answer comes back:

'Yes'.

No "Dear Jess", no conditions, no questions, no signature, just "Yes".

:)

At least they didn't just reply with "k" as my kids often do with SMS

Before there was a definition of "social media" there were bulletin boards and forums all over the internet. Did AFF precede the "Social media" era?

And even before the internet as we know it today. Back when I first went on line you dialled up a bulletin board - they were mostly privately owned - and used Unix commands to operate it. I frequently had to redial 40-50 times over 20 minutes to get on line. You'd tie up you home phone line for an hour or more at a time.

So what is the purpose of a 5k return to the shop after new tyres?
Do you expect rotation or just tyre pressure test and inspection?

This one's for Johnk:
