For those 'heading for the hills', this plot of sea levels at a coastal station in Chile may be of interest.

Looks quite different to what I would have thought.

* No initial drop (the usual first indication of a tsunami at the actual coast is that the 'tide' goes way, way out; shown classically in the Japanese and Indonesian tsunamis)

If you ever notice the tide suddenly going out, anywhere, anytime, run like hell to higher ground.

* First surge significantly smaller than most of the following

The timing of the quakes were:

Size time
8.3 0
6.1 +9m
6.4 +22m
7.0 +24m
7.0 +24m
6.4 +2H50m
6.5 +5h
6.7 +5H10m

Some very interesting analysis coming up, (but not by me!)

Rumor mill this morning, the guys that refuel the aircraft in Perth are planning to strike AFL grand final weekend unless their demands are met.

A ballot is being held in the next few days, but expected to be 100% for strike action

Between clazman and cove we will be able to fuel up our own planes. I have been practising twice a month on my car.

Interesting work fridge.

Bl**** Rex.Combined carryon came to 8.5kg so forced to check one as over the 7kg limit which then put checked luggage over so an extra $14.

Meanwhile at the next counter fellow with only 1 carryon weighing 10kg is allowed to take that on with no cost.

PSA Melbourne: ~30k angry feral South Australians are now roaming the city, please take care.

Nor soccer fans. Nor Collingwood ferals. They wont be angry. They were beaten fair and square. Disappointed obviously but proud they got so far.

Hawks were back to their best. Watch out WA teams.
