my dear friend's brother, a 40 year old counytry school principal with 2 young daughters and lovely wife, died this morning. He was seemingly healthy, a bit fitter than most and happy. He didn't wake up this morning. Feeling confused and sad. Another reminder to hug those we love.

That's awful feezable. A very timely reminder indeed. Best wishes to you at this time.

Well anyone prepared to put a FF POINTS bet that it won't be a Victorian team in AFL GRAND FINAL..... All over freeo

Hawthorn were too good tonight. When they slowed up it looked like the Dockers could surge past them. The Hawks recovered and were able to show that they are great grand final contenders.

Hopefully a WCE v Hawks grand final - reminiscent of the early 90's, but hopefully this time with WCE winning ;)

Well my first screen protector on my Samsung S3 finally peeled off in transit to Europe.

Didn't have time to source one in Paris, but hard enough to find one here, mostly because the S3 is almost deprecated now. A phone repair shop here seems to carry these top line protectors which apparently include a very thin layer of tempered glass. But they are flogging them for CHF 25 apiece... yeah, I'm not that desperate...

On the plus side - I think - without the screen protector, all screen colours seem a lot more vivid and rich...

Plenty on Amazon, Ebay et.al .... should be simple enough to find one.

Yeah ... and cheap. ... I got a thin glass protector for SWMBO's S4 at a cost of AU$8 all up (including delivery).

The complete stupidity of our government in SA.

For years the road next to our street has been in poor condition. Last week, the finally resurfaced it.

You can see the brand spanking new bitumen.

In the evening during the repairs I noticed a puddle of water on the kerb of the brand new road. Thought the neighbours must have overwatered their garden.

The next day the road had been finished. Lines painted. And that puddle was still there.

Today. Saturday. Two days after the new road was laid, this is what I saw

Yup. The new road is all dug up.

They never fixed the problem that had created the poor road in the first place. What chance does SA have?

Look at the bright side...those guys/gals working today will benefit in wage and loading for Sat.

Our payroll tax in SA is going to good use. Resurface a road....dig it up.....repeat several times.....
Maybe they used our land tax or our GST........

Happens all over Australia. Whereas previously this probably would have been taken care by state or local authorities, now generally performed by sub contractors who have an incentive to make more work.
