Happens all over Australia. Whereas previously this probably would have been taken care by state or local authorities, now generally performed by sub contractors who have an incentive to make more work.

The truck is SA Water. Government. The road was laid through Council. Needless to say I will be asking them about this Monday.

Our payroll tax in SA is going to good use. Resurface a road....dig it up.....repeat several times.....
Maybe they used our land tax or our GST........

SA is becoming an embarrassment the way this Govt is acting like a pauper state and demanding more than SA share of the pie. Yet we have almost finished building the third most expensive building in the world and the most expensive hospital in the world. Can they not see the relationship between income/budget/spend?

Spotted on gumtree today.

Probably better to not fix the water pipe I guess?

Do you have anything at all to back up these claims? Links? Anything? Perhaps you should talk to a doctor about the new hospital?
Then there is the flippant answer: of course it's a pauper state when spending so much on hospitals and buildings.

Still unemployment is outta control, there is stuff all work in SA. Not to mention I still earn more, even paying for flights and hotel, working for another state government organisation than the SA government used to pay me. Or would pay me today.

At least you got your road resurfaced Pushka. I've seen better roads in third world countries than my road!
Not to mention that every day I walk along it I take my life in my own hands (or perhaps the hands of a crazy motorist that thinks they are on a freeway!)

But half is now gravel! Such is life. And yes, our roads are appalling. Remember Greenhill Road when the pipes were being laid? Norwood Parade with all the tree root bumps?

Doll house?
Matchbox car?
A flight
So get a 901 bus ticket from your miki train ticket and your set!!!!!

My current place was the size of a doll house so decided it was time to move on up! haha

Worst part is my car will be delivered while I'm away... I'm not even in MNL yet and I want to be home!

Well my first screen protector on my Samsung S3 finally peeled off in transit to Europe.

Didn't have time to source one in Paris, but hard enough to find one here, mostly because the S3 is almost deprecated now. A phone repair shop here seems to carry these top line protectors which apparently include a very thin layer of tempered glass. But they are flogging them for CHF 25 apiece... yeah, I'm not that desperate...

On the plus side - I think - without the screen protector, all screen colours seem a lot more vivid and rich...
A few weeks back the screen on my Samsung S3 cracked and I had to replace it. That cost ~AUD60 and they threw in a tempered glass screen protector for free.

Big mistake. Chose the clear glass not anti glare. At Milton station in the mornings I cannot read the screen. At other times the screen colours look dull.

I'd be willing to bet there are, say, 10 buildings that cost more to constructe than the new Adelaide hospital's $2.1 billion.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_most_expensive_buildings_in_the_world

Not to mention that price seems to include fit out. How many of those other buildings include MRI, CT, linear accelerators Fluoroscopy suites, plus all the shielding plus all the run of the mill x-ray machines plus all the supporting infrastructure computer systems etc. etc. etc. I'd guess there'd be at least $100 million just in machines.

Not that it want to defend the poor coordination, but you're dealing with one state authority and one local government authority, its no surprise they have no idea what's going on. Utility owners are probably the worst of all, they tend to have a "its my asset I'll do with it, and your requests, however pleases me" .

Of course. Wiki trumps a professional website (and multitudes of others) every time.

Using your own wiki source, Parliament House cost $1.1 billion AUD yet that comes in fifth in your wiki link - maybe that link needs a little tidy up with facts.

Just got the inside word on Freo bloke going off in the crowd..... He had just got his first upgrade to Melbourne using his frequent flyer points for flight next week...... The women was his sister an eagles supporter asking in the first quarter about getting his ticket ;)

A couple of points, in no particular order:

  • The wikipedia page lists US$ not AUD
  • The wikipedia page is ranked according to inflation adjusted cost. -The last column.
  • The wikipedia page lists all types of buildings not just "skyscrapers".
  • The so-called professional website only lists skyscrapers
  • The cost on the "professional" website and wikipedia list a cost for world trade one that is basically the same.
  • Why is the professional website comparing the full fit out cost of a hospital with skyscrapers? How many skyscrapers incorporate radiation therapy treatment bunkers?
  • The professional website - It's just an advertorial, isn't it? For a professional website the comparison doesn't seem to be valid.

Anyway, before we tidy up anything, perhaps take the time to understand the information first.

Big enough fire at Sydney's Central station this afternoon starting at Hungry Jacks. A good day not to be working.

Lucky there was no NRL or AFL in Sydney or there would have been many more people around.

We were there for the 160 years celebration today, riding steam trains to Parramatta and back. Very sad that at the end of a joyful day this happens.

Glad that a team coached by Ross Lyon yet again failed to win a premiership.............................:):)

Yes, I'm a bitter and twisted St Kilda supporter!

I thought she was an off duty cop and no relation. His sister was interviewed after the incident and looked nothing like the woman he punched

The woman he punched was an off duty police officer. His family were interviewed at the court house. Very different to the person he hit.
