Agree. I admired James Hird greatly as a player but that has evaporated and more, now. Every word he utters is a carefully crafted 'not my fault' exercise. Had he not extended proceedings with all his personal court issues the players would be long past any bans and playing now.

Wonder how Bunnings will go in the UK. Homebase is definately 2nd tier (B&Q in the UK has more market share IIRC), and I don't really think the branding has that much traction in the marketplace anyway.

Interesting fact point worth mentioning is that Homebase was once owned by the supermarket chain Sainsbury's, who got rid of the business due to falling sales approx 15 years ago.

Bunnings (and Coles) is inundated with pommie retailers... they might be feeling a little homesick.

Woolies to wind up Masters...the writing was on the wall for a long while:

Woolies winds up Masters

It certainly has!

In all fairness Masters does some categories in home improvement better than Bunnings such as White Goods, although most of the important categories such as Tools the product range was substandard.

Having stores located opposite a Bunnings in many instances, just didn't work as consumer's didn't automatically "switch over" like woolies had hoped.

No doubt what so ever, that Masters Caused Woolies to lose focus on Big W with a pipeline of new Big W stores shelved so that Expenditure could be devoted to Masters.
The Category Review undertaken at Big W a few years ago Stripping out most of the Hardware category on the basis that Masters will do the category much better was a major flaw of thinking that has contributed to the 8 quarters of negative sales growth at Big W.

It's time that Woolies focuses on getting its fundamentals right now.

The first Quarter sales results of 2016 will make very interesting reading!

James Hird would have to be clown of the century.

Sorry that is not a defence. That is, in fact, why you are being caned now. You're the head coach, and you did zero to know what was happening to your players?!
An utter lack of any oversight by the club and the head coach that has destroyed the careers of 34 players. The guy still doesn't get it. Maybe he had a few too many head knocks.

In the interview he actually said he looked at one of the players consent forms. With logic you would conclude it would say what was being injected but now he is throwing other people under the bus.

However because paper work went missing, that is the real problem and they elected to inject players with a derivative of something that is banned which they now deny. The Kangaroos President mentioned how the asthma pumps are under lock and key with the Doctor.

Drug testing compliance now has a very high bar. Just look what happened to the Russians. He can say he wasn't trying to cheat but he does admit they were trying to get an advantage.

Hell he even got them to inject him with a tanning drug.

I can accept the line about good intentions and all that. But intentions are completely meaningless without proof. Rejecting his responsibility to have that proof is untenable.

Well that is the problem. I suspect others want to talk but for what ever reason will not at this point, and in the meanwhile James Hird lines up a softball interview to make himself look good.

JohnK how many years have you been at your latest work gig and in which State ?
Most places go pro rata long service leave after 7 years of continuous service.
I have been here at work in Brisbane for ~7 years and 6 months. I have taken a fair amount of unpaid leave so I am guessing that takes me back to ~7 years.

As far as I understand there is no pro rata long service leave entitlement after 7 years in Queensland if you leave employment of your own accord. There is provision though for pro-rata long service leave payment if you have to leave employment due to your own health or you need to take care of a family member. My health is deteriorating but not sure I could convince a court that I cannot work anymore.

Fingers crossed for redundancy....

When I was last in the UK I noted that the self-service checkouts in Tesco were the same as Coles here and used the same voice and script. Disconcerting..you'd think you were back home. Only difference was if you scanned of-the-shelf alcohol. Everything came to a halt until a staff member came over to scrutinise you and confirm you were over 18.

In one of the rare Coles that sells booze, you have to go through a real checkout with a +18 worker.

At one of the regional lounges the cabinet with alcohol had lock and it was past 12 noon. I had to retrace my steps to checkin and requested 'bar' be unlocked.

Although they still use the Sainsbury's loyalty scheme "nectar card".

Homebase only Joined Nectar approx 5 Years ago, The nectar loyalty program has been around a lot longer though , approx 15 years or so.

Same here when you try buying knives. Even plastic ones.
