How bizarre is this?

Staying in a 5* hotel in Geneva (you can probably guess which one, but I'm not going to name them).

Left my laptop charger/cable unplugged from the wall and sitting on the desk when I went out this morning (and locked the laptop in the safe).

Come back tonight, and the charger is gone. Have searched every drawer (ie if the cleaner thought it was a network cable and put it away) and looked everywhere else.

It's not really the sort of thing I would expect to be stolen. Perhaps the cleaner moved it somewhere and then accidentally carried it out or something similar.

Just seems so weird, and has me doubting my sanity as to whether I left it there this morning! Still trying to work out how to ask the concierge if it's been found without insinuating it's been stolen.

--edit
The "instant service" button on the phone was useless. Spoke to the hotel operator, who I think kind of understood my issue (I asked if it had been logged as "lost and found"), then put me on hold (or hung up) about 5 mins later, I gave up and hung up myself. There's been no callback.

For something that's worth about $100 to replace it's frustrating. Perhaps I'll find it sitting on my desk tomorrow.

Currently sitting at the WLG QP waiting for flight back to MEL. I had my first flight diversion on the way over, the weather at WLG was unsuitable for landing and the pilots elected to divert to AKL for fuel before a 2nd go. Good thing they continued drinks on the ground whilst we were waiting to refuel, although we ran out of champagne even though my friend and I were the only ones drinking at all. Apparently they only stock 3 bottles of champers on the trans tasman (or for MEL-WLG anyway) - and no it wasn't possible for the CSM to dash out to duty free to get some more. :(:p But we proceeded on to the red wine so all good - delish pinot noir. Other than that funnest flight I've had in the while. Oh and our CSM is apparently sort of a reality tv star in NZ.

The weekend was a blur and I now have a stalker....

Cheers ...

In the AKL Dom KC for a bit before heading of to INT KC for my flight back to MEL.

Was in WLG approx 2 hours ago.

A few delays here due to a squall coming through around 1pm ...

I guess its always a good idea to pack up everything; even the semi expensive stuff so the laptop doesn't gets moved.

Only two days left in South Africa!

Looks like I've got 34K for my return flight QF64. Hopefully it is a 4-class plane being sold as a 2-class config, otherwise I've got a pretty **** seat in Y.

The seat map looks promising however, as row 34 is the nearest to the front that I can select and the row config for that row and the 3 other rows behind it are set out like Y+.

If row 34 is 2x4x2 then you have a PE seat (WHY service)

If you are travelling on 21st then it is definitely a 4 class sold as two.

FWIW, the E/F seat map has gone into "Pre Flight" mode and by looking at the seat map and the proliferation of 'blocked' and unallocated seating throughout the WHY cabin, this flight appears to be lightly loaded.

Yeah, it didn't turn up... so now I have a flat netbook battery and no way to charge it until I get another charger. Not sure whether to get a generic OEM one off Ebay, or go for the proper one.

I might post a review of the hotel I stayed in. Was not really impressed at all with many facets of service. Very surprising for their name, location and the calibure of normal guests there.

I've not seen many netbook adaptors for sale by themselves, may have to contact the manufacturer direct. I haven't seen support for them either on the 'universal adaptors', though you may get lucky (I've just had one of my suppliers release a 45W version of theirs).

My netbook is a HP 2140, so plenty of good support as it matches other HP/Compaq laptops.

Still narky at the hotel involved, although I really feel there is little I can do. If I allege 'theft', then things get messy, although a search of Lost + Found again today showed up nothing.

I may end up with a call anyway from the manager, because the check-out guy seemed particularly interested in finding it (and I think saw what I was really asking with my "lost and found" story)

Ah good! Hopefully you get it back.

Are we still on to catch up somewhere in Europe? Will be around London from the 22nd-26th (Nov).

You know when you've been posting to AFF too long when...

...you go back to HTML coding and forget that tags are contained within <...> rather than [...]; i.e. typing

[a href="http://www.your-url-here.com"]Some link[/a]

will yield you nothing but a gaggling mess.

*Sigh!*

I've done much the same thing with perl. [ does not make a particularly useful substitute for { .. :-|

How is this for a possibly overbooked flight? It's sold as J/PE/Y only (with Y in PE seats, PE in J seats and J in F seats)

LHR-MEL J1 C1 D0 I0 W0 T0 B0 H0 K0 M0 L0 VC SC NC QC OC XC E0
(consisting of)
LHR-HKG J1 C1 D0 I0 W0 T0 B0 H0 K0 M0 L0 VC SC NC QC OC XC E0
HKG-MEL J9 C9 D8 I6 W0 T0 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V2 SC NC QC OC XC E0

Glad I'm not wait listed on that flight! Flight isn't for a couple of weeks.

Sorry for the "On Topic-ness", but it's not something to start a new thread for!

They are seeking volunteers to waitlist for being off-loaded. Was a decent set of compensation too (although I didn't look at it closely). Something like a flight tomorrow and £550 in vouchers. Figure may not be correct as I wasn't really that interested.

Wonder if some J passengers will fail to check in (likely), and they'll need to move me forward to help ;)

Oh - and the reason for massive overbooking? End of Hong Kong school holidays this weekend.
