Does anyone here drink Inner Circle Rum?

Whenever I order it on a Qantas flight, I usually get a very weird look, the request to repeat my order (Inner Circle rum and dry is what I ask for), then another blank look and I usually have to resort to pointing out where it's listed on the drinks menu, or the staffer accepts the order and says they'll look for it.

Wasn't loaded on my LHR-HKG sector though :(

Mal,

I drink Wild Turkey and Lemonade and I get very strange looks, and quite often get WT and Coke as they just don't listen.

Yeah, Rum and Dry isn't really often ordered by people, but I don't think it's the dry bit that throws them - the staffers just don't have a clue that Inner Circle is on the drinks menu! (and it was the CSM that took my drinks order LHR-HKG!!)

I had the same crew LHR-HKG as HKG-LHR, although I had moved back to my booked PE seat rather than J. No staff indicated they recognised me, although I was going to ask the CSM for a Inner Circle+Dry and see if they twigged.

They must have loved their 3 day layover in HKG!

More randomness from my world.

I've often whined about the pathetic postal service over in the UK as due to industrial action a large number of letters and parcels got held up for weeks (eg some stuff from Amazon took about 6 weeks to arrive, another package from an Amazon merchant is still missing, a letter from a place less than a Km away from me took a week to arrive etc etc. )

Anyway, Amazon kindly replaced the missing parcels after about a month, and soon after the replacements arrived, the original ones turned up.

So I posted them back to Amazon marked with "return to sender".

Now Amazon are wanting to refund me for the parcels I returned.

lol. Sometimes big companies just don't have a clue!

I've got the flu, the day before I was due to have my injection for H1N1.

A real nuisance as I "enjoy":( a day's leave before the final Family and Community day holiday here in Canberra.

Still between coughing up big green chunks I can do some work on the photos I took at the recent AFF do. They are coming folks, I promise.

Believe it when I see it ;)

Woo! Just had a call from QF for my QF009 MEL-SIN and was offered either PE or J. Given it's a day-time flight I would have been happy with PE but as I've never flown J before decided I'll go in J for 40,000 points.

Pre-allocated 13A upstairs, with a note in my booking to have row 16 which she said I can ask when I check-in.

Nice work! Did they quote a $$ figure for the same upgrade, or was the deal points only?

Points only.

'tis my first time in real J. I've flown NRT-PER in J (11.5 hour flight), but being the lovely 763's it was a coughpy old Dreamtime seat for an overnight flight

That sounds like you'll be needing to do a TR!

I'm hoping I get a phone call in a week or so as well... ;)

I think maybe I just will have to do one!

I figure I have a pretty good chance at nabbing something in row 16, as I'll be checking in @ PER, many hours before check-in opens in MEL; unless a WP has already got all row 16 seats.

Given I'm such a newbie with this; can I ask for an Express Pass when I check-in at PER, or should I go to the check-in counter at MEL which I arrive in MEL?

Edit: this was from a Q class fare, and I didn't even request a points upgrade.

PER might have some, and it wouldn't hurt to ask - but you've probably got a better chance of getting one in MEL.

Well done, D1! Have a comfy trip over.

Currently sitting in LHR T5 GF South waiting for BA904 to FRA. Flights over were great. BA (744) F we only had 4 pax, and the cabin crew were friendly and service was to the letter. QF (744) F was a different seat - I think I might prefer the BA F seat - but service was very friendly and food was better (although BA was daytime/dinner & refreshment flight vs. QF supper & breakfast), plus QF F bed is heaps better than BA F bed (both are good, but QF is better with very soft duvet).

I've survived the incoming zoo channeling at LHR and after a walk of distance equal to two QF009 death marches :p  (just kidding) made it Flight Connections and then T5 only to find that a couple of bottles of Payot products I was gifted on QF1 are over 100 mL. I decided to buy a new bag and check most of my extra cabin baggage in (including a plethora of amenity kits). I'd think that the Payot products themselves would probably cost more than the little backpack I bought. On the other hand, I'm still thinking about all my other flying in Europe... :-|

Good to see your flights over went without a hitch!

Am looking forward to hitting the free minibar in FRA in a few days
