Wonder if some J passengers will fail to check in (likely), and they'll need to move me forward to help ;)

And I helped Qantas out by rolling forward and upstairs to the upper deck :)

Still, it wasn't as huge an upgrade as possible - I was in PE (with J class seat), and got moved to J class.

I thought it would have been a little tacky to ask if any seats were available in rows 1-5.

Back home after a busy weekend away;

Your Jetstar flight can leave at 2:20pm but you have to be first or 2nd in line to get a drink when the bar opens at 2pm and then run as Jetstar might ring you and ask where the hell are you. :oops: "I was on the Jetway"

The traffic in Sydney is awful; I can understand why some people who live there might not need a car. :idea:

It is always a good idea to check the rail schedule for Sydney as the trains on the Airport line are prone to go off line for track work and this is where a Hotel shuttle bus might come in handy. :idea:

You can fly from Sydney to Brisbane via Port Macquarie for 8,000 points and $16.32 but I am not sure I want to do that again; as the stress of a 1 hr 30 minute delay and a bumpy flight in a Dash 8 through rain is not much fun.
Turn up to Qantas check in at Terminal 2;
Check in "So where are you flying today"
Me "Brisbane"
Check in "You are in the wrong terminal"
Me "Not if you are going to Brisbane via Port Macquarie" :cool: ;)

At least mrsdoc is happy now - after all our travels she was dreading the three day Perth trip. Anyhoo, she managed the ODU in the QP so will no doubt be just departing BNE now in seat 1E at a cost of 10k points.

Congratulations. Nice to have a win occasionally. ;)

Has anyone seen the latest Air Asia advertisement?

I wonder if they've looked towards Virgin Atlantic for inspiration...

You can watch the video at AirAsia - Have You Flown AirAsia? (enter in an invalid email address etc, click on Media, Tv Commercials, Have you flown Air Asia.

(apologies for the convoluted way to get at the video - it doesn't appear to be on Youtube, and there's no easy direct link to it )

Includes a couple of gratuitous "butt" shots of FA's and the classic comment from the young boy regarding what his grandmother said: "She said the flight attendants were hot."

They are seeking volunteers to waitlist for being off-loaded. Was a decent set of compensation too (although I didn't look at it closely). Something like a flight tomorrow and £550 in vouchers. Figure may not be correct as I wasn't really that interested.
I would definitely be interested in that figure if they included half-decent accommodation as well.

You are having a very good run at the moment. I am wasting all my good luck on domestic op-ups. :-|

My luck has dried up, but no big deal. I thought I was going to get lucky the other night when my BP double-beeped, but it turned out that the FA made a mistake in trying to scan me in more than once.

This ad has been on TV in KL all weekend. Still won't make me fly with them. A 6yo boy's view of an enjoyable flight with his grandmother does not change my expectation of in-flight service.

So true! The only reason I know about the advert is that it's showing on CNN (Cee no news) and I've flicked through it. Currently on Discovery, which is more informative than most other options.

Would that be allowed on Australian television. I'd imagine it wouldn't be long before the feminists complained and it was taken off the air. Funny, but clearly sexist.

Looking at booking some flights to Italy while I am in Europe next month, there was a website that found all the schedules for all the low coast airlines; anyone know what it is.

There is a Low Cost Carrier reference sites thread on FT which has plenty of info re LCCs. It was started in 2005, so some earlier info may be out-of-date but the thread appears to be still active.

PS. Nice nostalgic post count you're currently on, Bundy! (707)

There is Skyscanner and Best Flights also has a link to LCCs.

The other option is to wait until you are over there and search for some great package deals on airfare and accommodation with local travel agents....

Had my first go around on 26/10.QF389/JL762 into NRT in a typhoon.First approach got lifted by a wind gust and too high.Second time around the wind was horrendous and kept being blown to the right.Third time was lucky.Just as well as the purser said it would have meant a diversion to HND and waiting on the plane had we missed the third try :(
