The totally off-topic thread

Some days it's really difficult to not believe that life is conspiring against you.

I am in Brisbane this weekend and hiring a car today, tomorrow and Sunday. Heavy storms predicted all 3 days. I will be in Rosewood tomorrow and Gold Coast on Sunday. From memory there were no storms this week and no storms predicted for all of next week.

So why these 3 days that I am hiring car. My annual travel insurance expired last week and I was going to wait until March to renew as I am heading to Thailand. Taking no chances and renewed annual travel policy today.

Oh the joys of Tesco.

Two years back saw the "Complete Dad's Army DVD Collection" for GBP 13.

Even included 'lost episodes' and a few other bits and pieces. Some brilliant episodes with a few also rans - well worth the investment.

BTW - is buying 108 DVDs online, getting them delivered to UK hotel to collect on the way through excessive? Family thought so but at GBP 1 each how could I not do it.

Staff at hotel ALL knew of delivery, where it was stored...

Amazing how little room they can take up in a suitcase.

And yes, they all work on our home DVD players as well as the one I had in Austria.

I saw that box set in Oz. Can't remember if I got it in the end, but I'm looking at a couple of seasons of Dad's Army as I type now.

That seems a strange response for what was a fun post by Pushka. Can we know how 'dishonest' came into it, please?
You didn't think my post was fun? Dishonest was me being mischievous.

I tried so hard and without a smilie either. ;)

Pushka is on to me though.

And how many claims do you actually see paid out?

Talking about death claims JohnK. Sadly pretty straightforward.

In that time, I've been personally involved with over 100 (Death, TPD, Trauma and Income Protection). Currently have a number of clients who are on long term disability claims (income protection), we even had 1 pending claim for a client who has gone missing (but is presumed dead as we believe he committed suicide but no body has been found yet).

The storms for BNE are on their way, but looks like the worst of it has already hit Oakey, Esk, Wivenhoe Dam etc and will slide south towards Ipswich and the southern suburbs. Great build up of clouds and thunder.

256 km Brisbane (Mt Stapylton) Radar Loop

Just done with 24 hrs constant rain in eastern Tas - at least I hope so! +175 mm so far.

This doesn't happen often (luckily):

I'm told I got 2 big downpours but nothing like 175mm. My power has been off for over 24h though so running the freezer on a generator. No power means no water pump either for us

Adelaide had 18 mls overnight and more rain today. Last night's rain not really predicted. We have gone from scorched earth to floods. So more on the way for Tassie and Vic.

Off to the tennis tonight - hope we can see the match ok:

Front row, although slightly on the side - Life's hard for some

I dare say you might be inside, so limited risk of "rain".

Hope you enjoy tennis, although you should remove the bar code. It could be copied and someone else use it to gain admission.
Possibly - but given the hue and cry from the holier than thou AFF community over my 'GST Refund' plan that's not likely when posted here is it?

You are a very trusting person.

If was in Melbourne I'd copy that barcode ASAP so I can spend a night with grunters and squealers.

Anyone watch the Legends mixed doubles match last night?Henri Leconte was hilarious.

What a wonderful match.

They all were a little "chubby" and perhaps a slower than back "in the days", but boy could they still hit a ball - Leconte's reflexes, shots and ball placement were amazing, Arancha's returns from behind the baseline awesome, Kim's serves were still pretty good. Woody looked to be the fittest of the foursome.

I did love the bit where Leconte called out to the two women who were trying to leave.

He challenged an out call successfully so went up to the linesman, gave him his racquet and swapped roles for a point.
Another funny moment here-

Henri has a career as a stand-up comedian for sure. Although I was a little suspicious that the linesman could not return an easy serve multiple times but could suddenly volley so well at the net...

The speed of their reflexes was what amazed me. Some of the net 'ping-pong' was brilliant to watch - some current players should take a note or two.

Only drawback was staying up to the am watching it.
