Going home today. 6 weeks on the new wonder drugs then haematology review. After last night in a 6 bed ward of men and women - well, home is good. Retrieval Helicopter seemed like it was landing in the room at 2am. Best meal I had was a bowl of wheeties at breakfast. Sorry - no food pix.
Good to see you going back home.

You didn't like hospital food? I didn't mind it when I was in hospital for ~11 days back in 2010.

I visited my godfather in hospital. Whilst I was there, the nurse came in and served the evening meal. It actually looked and smelled very good. Looked like a decent meat and veg. He didn't touch it as he was so weak that he didn't feel up to eating at all, but my aunt didn't mind doing so.

What we didn't know was that was the last meal he would ever see. He passed away early the next morning.

Well, before I said anything the nursing staff apologised as they gave it to me and said they would try find something else. The meat was so processed it had the texture and appearance of foam - it had air spaces in it. No salt. No flavour. I ate my SIL potato chips she'd brought in. She is in ED at another PH and knows the ropes.

If you just paste in some text, the forum software URLEncodes the characters (e.g. full stop '.' are replaced with %2E) which breaks the link.

Put the text in that you want (e.g. the URL, or any arbitrary text) and then use the "link" icon to specify the URL.

E.g. using any arbitrary text:

a link that works

Not sure that's true, even if does the %2E is valid encoding and should work in most/all browsers. Both links in your post work for me...

Both links in AC's post work for me also but neither Wozzas or RB's do in their original posts or when quoted

On on another note, I'm trying my first Rockfords Black Shiraz tonight - the only other sparkling Shiraz I've tried is some '08 Majella I bought on an AFFers advice a while back that I enjoy

I fixed up both links in my post. I think you're right though - looking at your link again, it seems some errant characters may have been cut-n-pasted in your post - here's the URL when you hover over the link:

All VA flights (and FJ) to/from Nadi have been cancelled for the next 2 days at least. Sue wanted to stay in Fiji a bit longer but not like this. I did manage to get her a Hilton booking at a reasonable rate though it did go up $FJ100 whilst I was looking.
Last time we heard from Sue was about 1030 pm on FB messenger.
She had made herself a bed in the bath which is apparently located in the centre of the room.

Just before signing off for the night she had just moved back from the bath to the bed as water was coming through the down lights above the bath. The walls and floor were wet and all the external furniture (incl the BBQ) had departed.
At that time they were in the eye of the cyclone. She was in good spirits but looking forward to daylight.
The cyclone is expected to be 230 km west of Nadi by midday our time. As it went directly over the top of Nadi there is the possibility that the half rebuilt terminal and the airfield may have suffered damage.

Please let us know when you hear anything, my thoughts are with Fiji.

We had a great afternoon at the NAB cup game, Swans vs Port.

I was so torn between a family day and the Hunter Valley wine tasting. The family option won and I have to say it was probably the most enjoyable birthday I've had.

I ❤ AFL

The only thing I have heard this morning is no where near as bad as it could have been.

All is ok here in my unit in Fiji. Can't say the same for outside! Anyone got any dry towels? I could really use some. Anything that would mop up water or stop it coming in......well that didn't happen! I put some cushions in the bath and my doona and sat in there through the majority of the cyclone! It's in the middle of the unit away from glass doors n windows. It was good. Felt like I was in a boat in the end so much water came in. Took me back to 1974 floods in Ipswich Qld only no mud came in!!!!! Alls well with me though. Can't shower....no dry towel and can't go out of our rooms yet. So here I am. Wonder if tv works. Thanks for the thoughts and wishes frim everyone and my now deaf family for staying on messenger. It was nice having you with me. Thanks guys

Further to my last post.

I opened the door early when it wasn't raining to let the heat dry what hadn't. Not much and looked a little while later and all the tiles were very wet again!! So I have just finished drying them.
The aircon is on the fans are on so hope what is still a bit wet will dry. I saved a towel so I can go have a shower then plan to get on the bed n read. Hows that???

Lining up this morn for a coffee and the dude on front of me ordered a 'skinny flat white with 3 sugars' - WTF - even staff taking orders asked him to repeat it.

I don't get it - what's the big deal with that?

The only thing I guess is that most cafes don't add sugar to your coffee. Most of the time you do that yourself with the packets they have on the tables or near the self-serve stations. I don't normally have sugar with my coffee, so 3 sugars is a bit much for me.

I had a boss before and his coffee order was 2 coffee, black and 3 sugars (i.e. 2 spoons of coffee, 3 spoons of sugar). My other senior colleague was 1 coffee, white and 2 sugars. I think I was almost the only one in our section who had coffee with no sugar.

Some people think it is the fat content in foods that cause weight gain so they order low fat. But in reality its's those 3 teaspoons of sugar thats's doing the damage. Ordering full fat (or normal) and no sugar is much better. With black coffee there is no milk so that gets taken out of the equation.

Our new epidemic will be diabetes and there is so much hidden sugar in foods - usually in those supposedly healthy 'low fat' foods.

Same with salt and hypertension. There is salt added to too many foods that don't need salt added in the first place. And if you get hypertension ( high blood pressure ) salt is one of the first things you should give up and the hardest people tell me. Start reading contents labels in the supermarket - it is an eye opener

Thank you all for your well wishes.

It was a crazy auction - price did not represent good value IMHO. Fortunately "brain took over from heart" and I didn't bid at all in the end. Back to the drawing board (or realestate.com.au).

Bit of an emotional let down - turns out I should have gone to the Hunter - probably would have been more pleasant than the alternative.
