I AM available for the housewarming party. How about Sunday evening, as I'm on my way back from the Hunter??

haha, I think it would be the commiseration party.

Thank you all for your well wishes.

It was a crazy auction - price did not represent good value IMHO. Fortunately "brain took over from heart" and I didn't bid at all in the end. Back to the drawing board (or realestate.com.au).

Bit of an emotional let down - turns out I should have gone to the Hunter - probably would have been more pleasant than the alternative.
Although not necessarily cheaper!

Some people think it is the fat content in foods that cause weight gain so they order low fat. But in reality its's those 3 teaspoons of sugar thats's doing the damage. Ordering full fat (or normal) and no sugar is much better. With black coffee there is no milk so that gets taken out of the equation.

Our new epidemic will be diabetes and there is so much hidden sugar in foods - usually in those supposedly healthy 'low fat' foods.

I have a cousin who adds 6 satchels of sugar to his coffee. Can of Coke has 8 tablespoons of Sugar.

Fat is now considered beneficial, some studies showing it aids in vitamins being absorbed.

I always eat healthy when ordering a big mac meal i get the diet coke.............

With Large Fries?

Same with salt and hypertension. There is salt added to too many foods that don't need salt added in the first place. And if you get hypertension ( high blood pressure ) salt is one of the first things you should give up and the hardest people tell me. Start reading contents labels in the supermarket - it is an eye opener

Usually can tell when food has too much salt. Apparently airline food is packed with it but because of the high altitude you can't taste the saltiness.

Penegal you should now be able to say to yourself just how much you saved on the weekend and feel very happy inside. These days in real estate you can save a heap by not being the highest bidder.
I have missed more at auctions than most and missing doesn't hurt a bit.

And with all this talk about pruning or cutting back negative gearing, the market overall may well pause or at least slow for a bit.

When Melbourne crashes it could be a beauty. No one knows if it will happen so prices in Melbourne can be as crazy as in Sydney.
Victoria has done a great job at running big events so crowds of folks are always going there.

recent observational studies in the US show huge increase (over 10years) in weight and especially diabetes in those that exclusively consumed 'diet' drinks - quoting figures of 50-65% higher rates than those that consumed 'normal' drinks with 'normal' sugar

I guess people see 'diet' and think yippee, I don't have to worry about how much I drink. So they drink more than they ever used to.

I hate wasting calories on consuming soft drink. Give me chocolate - calories well spent.

Though in the US you typically see those drinking diet soft drinks absolutely pigging out on typical high calorie junk so not necessarily the diet drink that puts on the weight.

Who sad good things only happen to good people?

I am the perfect example.

Bad things happen to good people so I would think the reverse happens too. Assuming you are bad JohnK.

You are like a bird that drops crumbs of information then flies away so we are left to ponder and interpret.

I never drink "DIET" drinks - the aspartame tastes to me "metallic", I would rather drink water than those fake sugar drinks.

"Aspartame: By Far the Most Dangerous Substance Added to Most Foods Today "

Aspartame: The Most Dangerous Substance on the Market

Of the diet drinks I don't mind both Coke Zero and Schweppes sugar free lemonade- the rest have a taste I don't like.

Sugar is truly insidious. In my Kalgoorlie days a few years ago I was drinking quite a lot of soft drink - often combined with booze TBH - and I think that was doing much more damage than the rest of my diet at the time. A stint overseas with the Mrs prompted me to all but cut out soft drink from my life. It's very rare that I would drink any these days. Except (again) with the odd bourbon or rum.
Also reduced the sugar I put in my coffee and tea, cause that adds up fast.

When I left goldtown I was nudging 120kg, but now I am inching closer to getting back into double figures. Hopefully will get there before my next birthday in August.

Yep, have to make the 'low fat' foods taste good somehow, that's where the sugar steps in!

Sorry pushka. Promise you will be the first to know when it has been confirmed I am the winner of the $3 million jackpot.
