Yesterday's dinner of ~900+ calories scared me. Still going good this week. Only ~1400 calories Monday and ~1700 calories yesterday.

Weighing food is making me eat less.

Sounds like your in the early stages of an eating disorder.

Its a good thing to be aware of the calories in food. After a while you usually work it out without all the calculations. But I think JohnK is on a good track.

BTW, for my steak post (and thanks for the ideas) - It's not me cooking. As is known to many, the UK does tend to have poor steak generally (Cheapest steak here is much worse than the cheapest Australian steak), and when I'm dining out, I'm trying to work out how I should have a steak cooked if I'm at a place that I suspect will be serving average steak.

They're scraping the bottom of the barrel if they are serving a piece with lots of fat and sinew. Even Flat Iron, at GBP 10 a serve, would be pushing it to serve such mediocre stuff.

Except for maybe the Chinese places, they're probably not using a tenderiser or sodium bicarbonate. :)

Go with your preference and slice off the grisly bits. If it's going to be a boot, it's going to be a boot. Next time you'll know to give that place the boot.

If you're counting calories. Eating spaghetti would appear to be counter productive. But then you may not like salad :-)
Lettuce salad followed by spaghetti bolognaise is quite nice. Still need to eat carbohydrates.

The alternative is to stay between 120kg-130kg and suffer silently.

Dietician wants me to log the food intake for 2-3 weeks so she can try and work out what's going on. I thought I would cut down on food and alcohol to give myself some chance.

Down below 120kg again for first time in over a year.

All this talk of dieting reminds me of my prowess as a dieter.

I am so good at dieting, I once undertook a 60-day diet. I was so good at it that I finished all the food in just 30 days!

I have learned that the best way to diet is to go on two diets at once ... there is never enough food in just one diet!

Anyone that sets up direct debits with billers and so on: when do they normally debit the charge?

I've signed up with Vaya mobile and they have direct debit (in fact, they almost force it onto you), but reading the bill, the text seems to imply that the debit will be made on the due date (or the Friday if the due date falls on a weekend).

What kind of logic is there in setting the debit date to be the due date? So that if your debit somehow fails (including for reasons beyond your control, i.e. not that you're just out of money), they can extract more cash out of you for late fees?

Keep at it JohnK! I'm working on getting back under 100kg again for the first time since my teens. Bloody hard work to get the last 2 or 3 gone though.

Vodafone bill as at 16th (in my case the anniversary of moving over), and debit on the 5th of the next month. I have noticed their systems always bill on a weekday, so sometimes 1 or 2 days later. I get a nice friendly text when they are doing the direct debit too, just so I can check all is in order.

Said this all before:

Go to weight watchers, and count points not calories. A much smarter system. Salad and such has zero points, so eat away.

I lost about 10kg when I stopped daily consumption of softdrink, well black death (aka Coke). Stop drinking all sugar water including the diet cough.

Currently reading Casino Royale and find myself enjoying it much more than expected. And yes it is Connery in my head as a picture Bond in the book. Because how could it not be. Definitely going to look at finding Fleming's other novels now.

I first read Casino Royale in 1967. Great book. JB was all the rage in the 60s!

I did weight watchers years ago and lost 25kg without much effort. These days though counting points no longer works for me.... 5:2 is the first thing thats made a decent dent in years.

Ditto, lost around 20kg when I stopped the Coke, made lunch a fruit salad (instead of sandwiches) and walked each day.
Attempting to do it again now 15 years later.
